For displays to be added to the SuperSweetness Hall of Fame, all board members must be in favor of adding it. I know of one particular board member who would certainly veto anything involving Michigan Stadium.

Standing at midfield or anywhere on the field, it really isn't that big. Sure they cram a lot of people in there, but it doesn't get that loud either.

Devossed, The SuperSweetness Hall of Fame does have  a picture of one KresgeKrazy  having his picture taken on the sidelines while getting the phone number of a Michigan Cheerleader about 20 minutes before Kickoff. That was the only thing SuperSweet about that day. That picture is blown up and framed on one of the walls in the board room.

Last nights game in Kzoo came down to the final ten minutes. Despite the 22 point win for Calvin, this was actually a back and forth game until 1/2 way through the 2nd half. Calvin was up 2 at the half, with both teams shooting well throughout the first frame and both squads leading a various points. The second half started much the same, but Calvin slowly pulled it to a 10 point lead. Next thing you know, K's players started trying to do too much (on both ends). This led to TO's for K and points for Calvin (32 points off of TO's, I believe). Calvin was on fire from the arc, too, which did not help K's chances.

The Hornets need to stay within themselves, regardless of the score. Being down by 10 or 12 is not the time to start improvising. Up until that point, Kalamazoo hung with Calvin. Clancey was playing well; he seemed to be able to penetrate whenever he wanted on Draayer. Some other bright spots, but not enough to beat a solid Calvin team.

Veldhouse was impressive. Very smooth and confident, esp with the shot clock below 10 secs. His game kind of reminded me of Ryan Stahr (sp?).

Decent officiating last night, too.

Carthage has to be real close to not counting for Hope. A zip code to zip code on map quest has them at 213+.

Lost in the hype over the new DeVos Fieldhouse, there was little notice taken when Hope acquired a team submarine for travel to away games in Wisconsin.

To answer your forthcoming questions... yes, it is in the shape of a wooden shoe and yes it has an anchor.

No, the anchor is not painted maroon and gold.

Was it an old sub cast off from the former Soviet Union?  Actually while at Hope the cross country coach considered taking the ferry across Lake Michigan for a meet in Wisconsin.  Alas, we got to enjoy a scenic drive thru Gary, Indiana instead.

Speaking of submarines in Lake Michigan, former Hope President and Calvin graduate Gord Van Wylen gave a fascinating speech a few years ago on Veterans Day inside the Calvin Chapel.  VanWylen was a ranking officer on a WWII submarine that was built in Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan and later did all of its deep water dives in the northern portion of Lake Michigan up near Traverse City.  After the submarine was deemed seaworthy, it made its way to the Gulf of Mexico by traveling through the Chicago River, down the Mississippi and into the Gulf where it later saw heavy action in the Pacific.  Van Wylen later wrote a book entitled: "Encounter at Sea" that detailed the torpedo bombing of a Japanese ship.

Sac, Did you go down onto the field, and perhaps up into the tunnel?

No, but I've done it before, last night we just went up to our seats for awhile.  There's some construction going on inside..........4 large dozers and they look tiny in there.  Going down to the field would have required doubling back to leave......

.......and it was so freakin' cold last night we didn't stay long.

It gets plenty loud, trouble is its only one team that brings that out and thats OSU.

Two quick fouls in the first half, followed by an early 3rd one in the beginning of the second half limited him.

Thanks Devossed I was hoping that was it and not an injury.

Do any Hope fans think VanSolkema might make an appearance on Saturday?

No... at least I hope not. Was he dressed for the tri-state game? Anyone know? He's been in street clothes the last few games I've seen.

Michigan Stadium.

Standing at midfield or anywhere on the field, it really isn't that big.

Did anyone besides me find it somewhat amusing for a d3 poster to make such a comment about the largest stadium in America?

Thanks Jeff--sounds like worth the checkout. It's always interesting when those that have ties to both schools do something noteworthy.
