The easiest way to solve the issue of no Albion players is simply acknowledge that Turner is coach of the year.  I picked Albion to tie Calvin for second place, and many pickers had Albion lower than that.  His team beat Calvin twice, and Hope once.  Far exceeding even what his fellow coaches thought Albion would do this year. :)

I certainly think Coach Turner has to be the favorite for coach of the year barring some collapse today and Wednesday by Albion.

I think VandeStreek has to be up for worst coaching job of the year.  I know all the students at Calvin talk about how bad his offense is and how everyone just stands around.  Everyone has also noticed how terrible he is at subbing his players. He always seems to take out the person with the hot hand, he plays way to many players, and there are times when only one starter will be on the court at a time.  Also his helpside defense that he continues to run, just gets destroyed by Hope because all they do is throw skip passes across the court to Wolfe or Riemink and get wide open threes. VandeStreek is the reason Calvin has lost 4 times in the MIAA this year, not the players.

kf37:  Welcome to posting.   If you are a current student at Calvin it will be nice to have someone that brings that perspective.  I think you are being a bit harsh on KVS.  3 of those 4 losses you cite were by a combined 10 points,  Only Wed night's game was lopsided.   You also will remember that this is the same KVS that coached Calvin to a win over the than # 1 team Wash U.  Admit it, you loved the coach then, and also remember he used the same players and strategy in that game.

I guess you can laud KVS that his strategy, subbing, and coaching won the WashU game.  Or you can look at the nine losses, including four to Albion and Hope.  I think the numbers are pretty definitive.

And you can ask how and why is Calvin losing by 14 at Olivet? I realize its a road game and Olivet has played well lately but still a team of Calvin's talent level with expectations the team had to begin the season should not be in a position that they need a serious rally on the road against Olivet.

I knew we were in trouble when I clicked on the Olivet/Calvin livestats, and under Calvin they have a picture of an orange anchor?   ???
Listening to the game it just sounds like Calvin has quit.  No excuses.

Calvin gets out rebounded by 20 :o

I don't think anyone saw this one coming...

Calvin loses to Olivet 82-65. Good win for Olivet.

Albion has beaten Alma but Alma kept the game close and put up a good fight at Kresge.

It'll be interesting to see what sort of effort Calvin puts up in the MIAA tourney. Right now it looks like they are wandering in the desert but maybe the chance for one last run at the NCAA tourney will inspire the team.

KVS:  Admits he just hasn't done a very good job getting the best out of the players,  Also does not sound overly positive Calvin can right the ship by Wed.

I trust that everyone noticed the folks who run the video board at the DeVos got wind of the Marcus YouTube fame and had him re-create the video at practice so they could flash his "So Krispy" moves during timeouts. Wonder if whoever it was saw that link here, so you can take all the credit for that one.

Busy weekend coming up at the DeVos next week. Barring a first round loss, there'll be 4 semis and 2 finals. Do they have a setup with men and women each taking one of Thursday and Friday night and then both finals on Saturday?

Your browser must be not getting the latest image file ... I uploaded and on my browser, there is the Calvin logo.

Women's semis are Thursday and Men's are Friday. Championship games would be back to back I believe with women first on Saturday. Sadly I am going to be flying to Hong Kong on Saturday and won't find out who won until late Sunday:( I need to stop having trips during the MIAA and NCAA tourneys.

This just occurred to me but aren't the first two games of the Final Four scheduled for Good Friday this year? Would this be an issue with a team like Hope or Calvin or other teams from other conferences who won't play on Sundays considering the obvious significant religious significance of Good Friday right along the lines of a normal Sunday?

I realize this may not apply to Hope or Calvin or any other team that might have a similar policy when all is said and done. Just curious.
