I may have inadvertently caused some to think Capital is like Albion.  I did make the point that Capital, like Albion and Calvin plays lots of guys lots of minutes.  My conclusion was based soley on looking at Capital's stats.
Sorry if I caused some confusion.

You western Michiganders (former and present) ... always trying to SLIP Gerald R. Ford into the discussion. ::)

;)

Perhaps it's just because I did not live during the Ford years, but I don't follow the Win Button being a reference to Ford. Sure he won some games in Ann Arbor back in the day, but as we are occasionally reminded, he never won an election (well, as VP, but not as the #1).

I'm sure Gerald would appreciate some of those fine DeVos nachos even though he can't watch any football there.

Whip Inflation Now. Ford's approach to macroeconomic management was to hand out buttons.

Hey, not to be a stickler and get entirely off topic, but Ford can't even claim a victory to the White House as VP on a ticket. I also did not follow the reference, though it's pretty clever now that I understand. I suppose we could use a little bit of Ford's luck through this tournament though!

Ah yes. Once I typed that about being only elected as VP, I then started thinking that didn't sound quite right either. I had to get on Wiki to remind myself of the course of events. But yes, certainly makes more sense now that I get the explanation. An interesting approach, I certainly don't recall catchy buttons being mentioned in Econ class as something which will influence inflation.

(Wow, we need some games to discuss)

Ford did in fact win quite a number of elections to his seat in the House of Reps.  He had probably one of the safest/surest seats anywhere in the country.  So safe in 68 he spent very little time campaigning in West. MI, he was stumping for others all over the country.
Now you know the rest of the story. :)

Kind of how Hope ended up No. 1, no?   ;)

Sadly, Gerald cannot watch anything there, as he died December 26, 2006.

Wow - 2.5 block per game - but he only averages 15.4 minutes per game, despite being a starter.  Maybe that's in part due to the fact that he comitted 73 fouls or 2.6 per game in those limited mintues.  That would be 6.8 fouls per 40 minutes - another wow.

As a point of reference, Jesse Reimink has the most fouls for Hope (77 in 27 games, and he averages 25.6 minutes per game).  That would be 4.5 fouls per 40 minutes.

Now that Calvin's season is over.  What kind of recruiting is being done to bolster the lineup for next year.  This years freshmen class was fairly thin so they'll probably need to bring in a strong class to make up for that.  Any prospects "committed" (relative term for DIII) or considering Calvin?  Any other game changers for other schools that could impact next years season.  Share info for those that aren't in the West Mich. area any longer to keep plugged into the bball scene.

And as much as it pains me to say this, Good luck to Hope in the tourney.

Thanks for the well-wishes.  We HOPE our men (and women) will continue to give you reason to say that which pains you.   ;)

After watching the first half, it's looking like Capital.  We'll see what the second half brings.
