I can't imagine even the NCAA would send everyone out to Spokane. Wheaton would seem most likely if it's not Hope - close to an airport, more centrally located. Raymond had 36 tonight and is carrying the Thunder right now. With Wiele back, they won't be an easy victory, first meeting notwithstanding. Of course, we have to get by a hot OWU team first.

They did it in 2004 with Stevens Point, Lawrence and Sul Ross State.  They all went to Puget Sound.

I'd just like you all to know that I will gladly pick up the slack if our boys come out here!!!  8)

LETS GO HOPE! LETS GO HOPE! LETS GO HOPE!

I've been training my 2 year old... I'll yell "H-O-P-E" from anywhere in the house and she'll yell back "Hope!" And when I have on my alumni sweatshirt, it is the only word she recognizes and can spell... She'll point and spell "H...  O... P... E..." and I'll yell "Hope!" It is quite the game. So she, her 4 year old sister, who I stunt with and their former Hope cheerleader mom would all cheer very loud from the stands in Spokane! (6 hours away  :-\ but closer than Holland)

OK.. enough of the dream... Have fun next week in Holland!  ;)

In case anyone was wondering about tickets.  Page 19 of the tournament manual explains it all.

http://www.ncaa.org/library/handbooks/basketball/2008/2008_d3_m_basketball_handbook.pdf

Hope will get 1/2 and the other half must be split 3 ways  (approx 550 each) for the Friday night  games.   I imagine OWU, Wheaton and esp. Whitworth will return alot of tickets.

Ohio Wesleyan is led by:
6'5 235 Sr F Dustin Rudegair 16.2, 7 Reb
6'5 240 Sr F Jesse Jean 13.6, 8.1 Reb
6'3 Jr G Kyle Holliday 12.1, 4.3 Reb

They average 34.9 Reb to their opponents 30.8
Hope averages 35.7 Reb to their opponents 33.3

OWU 75.8 pts to 65.1 for a 10.7 Margin
Hope 80.4 pts to 61.6 for a 18.8 margin

Looks like OWU relies on their big guys.  Big defensive efforts will be required from Klein, Reimink, Marcus, and Osburn.

I have been impressed by the energy of Bosch, but am I the only one who gets real nervous when he touches the ball on offense?  I'd love to see Carter get back into the rotation.  He seems to be more talented all around.  When you get to this point in the tournament I think you are better off with a calming influence rather than a pure energy guy.  Carter seems to calm things down on offense when he is in there.  I hope that the ankle heals fully by next week!

Great idea to indoctrinate your kids from birth into the "Hope Nation."  You can't do it too soon.

I predict that someday even Stinger's descendents will want to be members of the "Hope Nation."  Some Calvin Alumni have already joined!

Both teams also have 6 Seniors, they really kind of look like clones of each other.

I don't know for certain, but I don't think Carter has been practicing much the last 3 weeks  (ankle then concussion).  Bosch has stepped in nicely.

;D"Big" guys at 6-5, 6-5 and 6-3 probably don't seem to match up as well as the 6-7 marcus and the long arms (of the law) Klein and Reimink. Could be a big night for Derek and Wolfe to hit their 3s.

Watching Drake's Adam Emmenecker play on CBS right now vs Illinois State in the MVC championship.  Emmenecker is from Saginaw and had no Division I scholarships - he walked on at Drake.  This year, finally as a scholarship player, he was the MVC Player of the Year.  Quite a story.  The MVC is a terrific league.

Just curious if any MIAA schools recruited him?

Said article proves that is isnt just West Michigan journalists that make mistakes and editors that don't do their due diligence.

"I think a thing many student athletes consider coming out of high school is, well, I want to go to a school and get a good education but I also want to go to a place where I can be on a successful sports team,'' said co-captain Scott Glase, a senior forward from Ann Arbor who plans to attend medical school after graduation. "Hope's had that for quite a long time and it's one of the things that attracted me to Hope.''

Actually, it's an AP story, so depending on which bureau the writer is based in, it could still be a West Michigan journalist. :)

Good question.

Brent Heemskerk, also for Drake, went to GR Christian.  He gets a good amount of playing time as well.

Leonard Houston also a starter for that team and their second leading scorer - a West Ottawa grad, and teammate of current Hope player Zach Osburn.
