Its nice of the Calvin student body to show up to their one game a year at home too when they give you those tickets.

There's actually is a good amount who are coming this year, but it's just most of them like to sit-down  :(

I checked Hope's web page and Derek Van Solkema is now listed on the roster.
There are 16 names on the current roster.  I wonder who Glen dumps to make it 15.

Although older and crappier looking THE Fieldhouse is a better Calvin v. Hope venue than the DeVos Fieldhouse.  More people get crammed into a smaller area.  The noise is unbelievable.  And the bleachers bounce when the students jump.  I was very dissapointed at the noise level at the DeVos.

1.) In your description of the mansion, why didn't you mention the butler donning that gay Knight mascot outfit?

Be careful of preterition.  Anyone who has the guts to stand in front of an audience and sing our National Anthem gets my respect.

And roster spots aren't nearly as important as how he will split the 200 minutes.

Slappy, you were just sitting on the wrong side  ;D

But that is true that the noise level was lost by moving to the nicer, but more open air, arena. I was afraid it would actually be quieter than it was, but it is still crowded enough for the big games thus far. It could be louder, but I think it's enough that a home-court advantage is still there. I was in a bleacher section for the Calvin game and we were actually waiting to get pushed knee-to-knee like in the Civic and it never happened. I'm sure more people could have fit in the sections that weren't reserved seating.

While we're telling Hope vs. Calvin jokes, I just have to relate the quip by my dad a couple years ago as we pulled in to the MIAA semi-final where the two met but Albion was hosting. We parked in a lot that was labeled as students or faculty, but several other cars for the game were pulling in. He saw one car with a Calvin sticker pull into a spot as we were looking and decided "Well the CRCs are using this lot... I guess God said it's OK."

And probably everyone has heard it, but:
Why don't Calvin folks have sex standing up?

Someone might think they were dancing.

Karma for the use of "preterition." I had to look it up. Here's the definition I found:

Quote1. The act of passing by, disregarding, or omitting. 2. Law Neglect of a testator to mention a legal heir in his or her will. 3. Christianity The Calvinist doctrine that God neglected to designate those who would be damned, positively determining only the elect.

So you're suggesting that we ought not doubt that such performances are worthy of ...um...a hot time in the old town?

Tniem:  I never claimed to be either clever or original.  Next time you get a chance to lighten  things up on this board a little I suggest you "go boldy".   All my Hope friends thought it was funny, and your version deserves an equally good laugh.  Back to b-ball.   No question Mr. Crawford is a very good player.  I would like to see him score 63 points against anyone before I say he deserves D3 player of the decade.  I do find it interesting that against Calvin severals weeks ago he didn't exactly dominate or take over the game when it really counted.  Ask coach P. at Kal. what happens when a player takes over and dominates a game!!

Thanks for the karma, DK.  I've been wanting one of those.  But just to be clear on my Greenspanian comment.  I was going for the double meaning between rhetoric and Calvinism.  Ziggy used preterition and therefore should be careful of preterition.  Of course, after this explanation, I'm sure to be smited!!! ;)

And MI2A is right, we do need some basketball to talk about.  Good luck to Albion traveling to face TriState tomorrow night.

Thanks for the condolences everyone, much appreciated......and whoever sent the flowers thanks.  Its been a long couple weeks and yet so short.

I can't remember if it was discussed or not but Derek Van Solkema was dressed for the Hope game against Kzoo......I was also surprised he didn't get on the floor.

Stinger---you might be interested to know I ran into Coach Motherwell at the visitation today.  His wife was my dad's Literature teacher in High School.  I don't know if you ever had contact with coach Motherwell but I assume you did since you went to his High School.  Small world sometimes.

He won't have to make that decision until the NCAA's.  Oddly enough, they'll also have to eliminate a coach or two, as I believe there is a limit on the number of people on the bench for the NCAA tournament.

No, I wasn't on the wrong side.  You see, Hope may have won the game, but at the end of the day I can still respect myself because I am not a Hope fan.
