With the new tournament format I believe an additional ten teams will get in this year.  This should increase the top 3's odds because it's going to be very hard for any of the top 3 to pull off 2 wins against the other top schools in the second half of the season.  No matter what happens in the MIAA tournament Hope and Albion will still probably get in if they can keep top ten rankings, but Calvin will really have to work hard by either winning both second half games or winning the tournament.

What an impressive win by Tri-State. I really didn't think there would be any upsets of the big 3 this year but that just shows how deep the MIAA is. Must say that this makes me more worried about Saturday though, Albion is in a must win situation in the MIAA from here on out so they will be ready.

Surprised we didn't see VanSolkema or most of the rest of the bench tonight against Olivet. Was it really that close all game?

As an avid Hope basketball fan I cannot help but to vent my frustrations with the Dew Crew. What kind of fair weather fans are you? You show up in droves to rake up all of the Hope Calvin tickets, but then at all the other games which count all the same, you are nowhere to be found. You take tickets for the big games, leaving us real fans at home to watch it on tv. I've got to run right now, but I will definetely talk more on this later.

If we win on Sat and Wed. The only way Calvin gets in to the NCAA is if they win the MIAA tourney. If we won out, and lost to Calvin in the Semi's of the tourney, and Calvin beat Albion in the finals, that may be the only way for three teams from our league to make the post season. It would be amazing though if that happened... unfortunately, the three teams would see each other way early in the tournament. Keep dreaming!

I don't quite understand your logic.  If Hope beats Calvin and Calvin wins the rest of their games then they would really only have 2 regional losses both to Hope.  Hope would be the #1 seed, Calvin the 2 and Albion the 3 in the tournament.  Assuming the tournament results follow out as seedings would predict Calvin would face Hope in the MIAA finals.  even if Calvin loses that game too it would be hard to keep a Calvin team with losses only to one team out of the NCAA Tourney.  They way I see it Albion now has a tougher road to the NCAA Tourney than Calvin does.

There are usually a few upsets involving the top tier of the MIAA, but this year it looks as though there may be only one or two, or perhaps none.

I guess we got that upset of a top tier MIAA team didn't we?

This also sort of happens.  Many students do show up for the home games but SIT toward the side and don't join in the cheers unless the game is close and there is under 2:00 left in the game or the other teams jerseys say H-O-P-E.

andy and cramer played good for hope    wow what happened to albion  they will be fried up for hope sat i herad that tickets go on sale at the door at 11.30 saturday for the game    now a 2 team race for sure
i love hope  sports all of them are really great to watch

KnightSlappy

Lets not forget about Albion too quickly.  They still are a good team and they still have a game against Hope and a game against Calvin left.  Two wins there would put them back at the top.

You put more thought into it than I did. My point was, that however it happens, if Hope wins out, somehow Albion would have to play in and lose the tourney championship to Calvin, for all three teams to have a chance at the post season. Maybe that can't happen... Your comment just makes those odds even greater.

Hope and Calvin each hold there own desinty at this point.

I'm thinking way to far ahead... but a Hope/Calvlin co-miaa championship with Albion winning the MIAA tourny.... 3 MIAA'rs into the NCAAs?

It's not that far off... are you already forgeting Hope running from Kresege with their tail between their legs?  It's hard to see Hope or Calvin running the tables at this point...  and Albion is behind but by beating Hope and Calvin they should lock up atleast a tie for 1st.

a tie for 1st.

That seems to be the most likely scenario. A two or three way tie. (But I'm still hoping for Hope to win out!!!   ;D)

Also happens at Calvin.  I don't like it either.  But what can you do...

Whether Hope wins or loses Saturday, it looks like the Calvin vs  Hope will be another huge game that will have a huge effect on the miaa standings.

For a prediction on Saturday, I say Hope wins by 8.

By the way, congratulations Tri-State!

My point from the begining... 2 or 3 way tie with 3rd seed winning MIAA tourny would make a strong case for 3 MIAAr's seeing the NCAAs
