I made the drive from NJ on Thursday so that I can take in the two HUGE sporting events in Michigan this weekend!!!! Hopefully I'll see a few of you there. GO HOPE!
Actually I think they are the ONLY two sporting events this weekend with Mich and MSU on the road.

Rob - I agree with your thoughts about Rich.  He is an awesome low post defender, who was pretty non-existant at the last game (first game back after 3 weeks out with strep).   I think his defense against Crawford will make a big difference.  I also think Voisin (and the rest of the team) will have their heads into this game (they seemed out of it last time) and we will see a much different result.

Picket fence:  Not so sure I agree that today's players think Hope/Albion is bigger game than Calvin/Hope.  Most of them remember last year, and GVW is not likely to let them become complacent, otoh, as a Calvin fan I sincerely hope that Hope players don't regard Calvin as much of a challenge.  Over the years Hope fans, and players have had a tendency to look past quality teams to their later regret.  BW in 95 is a good example.  Nothing good happens when a team spends to much of it's time reading press clippings, and worse yet when they start to believe they are really that good.

Hmmm??? Your example is more than 10 years old... so "over the years" what exactly has happened?

You may be right though, in that any team who is undefeated, number one in the region and highly ranked in the country may look past an underrated regional opponent. But for Hope in this case, what teams are you referring to in the past decade?

I think you are transferring the optimism of the D3 posters to the actual team members. Remember, Albion is the team that humbled the Dutchman not to long ago, so I hardly think they are looking past them, or Calvin for that matter. We all (Fans, players and coaches) know, records and past game scores go out the window when Hope and Calvin play each other.

Does anyone know the radio station for the hope albion game.  I am listening online and the quality is not very good.

Hope 19 Albion 14

Dutchmen on a little run, battle of the bigs so far Crawford 9, Voisin 9

Thanks for the link, sac.  With 2:25 left in the 1st, it Hope 25-21.  Albion has hit just 8 of 22 shots, and if you remove Crawford's 3/5, the rest of the Brits are a brutal 5 of 17.

Then again, Hope's not much better.  Voisin is 4/5 and the rest of the Dutch are 7/21.

with a buzzer beater three by Marcus Vanderheide, 32-25 Hope.  More in a minute.

Halftime in Tulip Town

Hope 32 Albion 25

If I followed right VanderHeide hit a 3 on Hope's last posession.

Voisin 9, VanderHeide 6 for Hope, Crawford with 13 for the Brits.

Hope shooting 45% to Albion 40%

So far of the 9 Hope players who've played, 8 have scored only Immink hasn't.

Bench points is 10-1 in favor of Hope, the Dutchmen are also winning on the glass with 20 rbs to 13.

First of all, I have been meaning to add this apology to Realist for a while now.  My response to the Hope/Calvin heaven rivalry tease came out a lot harsher than I meant.  I meant it more sarcastically than anything else, but well with the Internet...  Sorry about that.

Albion came out strong and took an 8-0 lead.  About turned the computer off and figured just a repeat of the second game.  Hope then went on a 23-6 run to take a 23-14 lead.  Albion made a run to get it down to 4, 25-21 and then a final run for Hope to end the half.  32-25.

Big difference in the first half was three point shooting.  Albion 1 for 6, Hope 4 for 8.  Bench scoring also in Hope's favor, 10 to 1.  But free throw shooting, Hope 2 for 5 could still be a significant factor down the stretch.

So, all in all, an exciting first half from a far.  Should be a good second half.

sac

Jeepers, I turned it on and it was 12-11 Hope.  Good to know they were down 0-8  :o

Makes feel doubly good about the 7 point lead right now. 8)

Tniem I'll had the update reigns over to you, I'm a bit busy with kids.

Hope is shooting 44% and Albion 40%, but it's a little misleading.  Minus Voisin and Crawford, those shooting percentages drop to 38% and 23%, respectively.  Hope has a 20-13 rebound edge, which helps account for the fact that they have four more FG attempts (turnovers even at 6.)

tniem

37-32 Hope with 17:09 remaining.

Someone will have to fill me in later about why Marcus Vanderheide is missing so many layups.
