Just saw the article in the Sentinnel about the Hope/Kalamazoo game, and while I appreciate that they are providing some pre-game information, the Key Stat listed here is just useless (several sentences about coach Passage's playing stats are totally irrelevant to the game tonight)

Wow, let's hope that was a mistake and should have been titled "Random Facts" because that is so irrelevant as to not be funny.
Tribes of primitve hunters, with rhinestone codpieces rampant, should build pyramids of Chevy engines covered in butterscotch syrup to exalt the diastolic, ineffable, scintillated and cacophonous salamander of truth which slimes and distracts from each and every orifice of your holy refrigerator.

This is a long shot, but if you don't ask you will never get it...

Does anyone have an extra one or two tickets to THE RIVALRY on Sat. at the DeVos.  If so, send me an email.

Also, I was at the Calvin game on Wed. when they dedicated the Van Noord Arena.  Does any Calvin Alum want my Opening Night Program.  If so, just let me know.  A Contribution to the Hope Alumni Fund is allowed but not required!

I just talked to another outstanding Hope fan who informed me he had two extra tickets to the Hope game that I could use!  Thank you, Tom!

Just remember, there's "AlwaysHope!"

P.S.  I just heard from impeccable sources that Krombeen is being tutored this week by Greg in the fine art of the "Immink Flop", so that if a certain guard drives to the hoop late in the game he will be assessed another offensive charge.

+Karma to you for this post! I almost had to head home for a change of clothes because I was laughing so hard!!  (No icon to be placed here that represents how I was actually feeling!!!)

Also I came across a name this afternoon related to brothers playing on opposite teams/potentially against each other.  Wasn't there a Buss who played for Kzoo, I noticed Matt Buss played at Albion in 93..............anyone remember?

Mike Buss played for Kzoo '90-'92. I don't know if he and Matt Buss are related.

(I never never met Coach, nor been to a practice, but I do know that if a player, or anyone for that matter told me to "f%^& off" in practice, in my office, or in front of 1000 people, I wouldn't let it slide. Let alone PUT HIM BACK IN THE GAME as if nothing happened. His rear would be put in place. Coach should have spent a timeout reminding the kid a little something about respect and reteaching his kids how to break token 3/4 pressure, if I remember correctly, because that killed the Bulldogs in the first half at Adrian last year.)

I am new at this so I do not know how everything works yet.
Who was the player who told Coach Riley to F off ? Was It Brandon Giles, Ryan Gallus or Corey Smith?  Those would be my only guesses.  I read about 10 pages back and still do not know where this topic came from.  Then you mentioned about the player getting 20 T's which is just unreal to say that.  I bet the MIAA hasn't recieved 20 T's this decade.  Good luck bulldawgs tonight.

You've got to read between the lines of this hot scoop from the Sentinel.  Passage has eligibility left and is now a player/coach--the Hornets' special weapon about which Stinger has been trying to keep quiet.

Rest assured that the above story was embelleshed a little in that situation.  When the player had a meltdown, not to the level that was stated, the coach left him sit and he did not return to the game, nor did he start after that if memory serves me correctly.  I have followed this program closely for many years and I remember in a pivotal game that the coach stuck to his guns and benched the player for inappropriate behavior, not for telling the coach to "f%^& off".  The AC coach has always been very classy, even when fighting for his players and has always been surrounded by classy individuals.  But as the saying goes, "The game makes fools of us all at some time"  and I know there is not one team in this conference or in sports that hasn't had its bad moment.

Good luck tonight Bulldogs and safe travels to all!

The MIAA keeps track of 19 team stats and every single one of them is more key than how many games the Kzoo head man played at his alma mater.

So here's an attempt to focus on a couple.......

Kzoo is last in rebound margin in the MIAA at -3.4, Hope is second with an unimpressive +2.7.  For Kzoo to win they can't get beat on the boards by Hope.

Also, Kzoo is a meager .306 from three as a team on the season, in the first two MIAA games Hope's opponents are shooting just .148 from trey.   Kzoo has to buck this by shooting over their average and do an equally good job containing 3's as they have in their first two MIAA games, .278.

In short, if Kzoo outrebounds, and wins the 3 point battle, they should be in the game with Hope tonight.

AC ALUM...do you know who the player was?

Yes, I know who the player is.  But, I don't feel it is right to single him out.  Partly, because the player just had a bad moment, and I don't feel it is right to single a player out from any team in that situation.  There have been other incidents across the league, but it is the past and thus should be left there.  I know there is no such thing as the MIAA's own Rasheed Wallace or Ron Artest with 20 techs, but one thing I have learned about the MIAA is once you receive a label that label sticks and a tech for one individual is regular bantor for others in this league.  Therefore, I would like to see that whole situation left right where it is in the past.  Sorry for the lack of info.

The weather is looking good for the trip down to K-zoo tonight. Hope to see some of you there, and safe travels to all.

I am curious ???  Would you Hope posters have beens as vocal if the Sentinel had used the same number of words expounding on GVW's playing accomplishments, and never mentioning Coach Passage's career?  Be honest now. :)

I think what Glen did as a student athlete 40+ years ago has less barring on his coaching than does Coach Passage's more recent athletic experience.

The Sentinel is a hack newspaper and the Key Stat was a silly addition!

On a side note... Are you going to be at the game on Saturday?
