Dark Knight

The young knights broke into the top 25!  Pretty good considering that 40% of the PT goes to freshmen.

I guess the poll is getting fairly well set at this point in the season. Hope doesn't move and Albion only drops 4 places after two losses.

Calvin came into the season with a top 25 ranking based on what happened last year but now the baby Knights cracked the list on their own achievements.  The Frosh's have grown a lot.  This team is a credit to the coaching abilities of Kevin Vande Streek.  Go Knights, Wednesday and Forever!

As far as the rankings go, I think in a round-a-bout way, Albion's loss to Tri-State hurt Hope. If Hope had been the only team that beat them this week I think they would have gotten more credit, but since Tri-State beat them earlier it doesn't really mean as much. Oh well. On to Calvin  :D

NW Hope Fan

If we continue to win, the only movement up we'll see in the poll for the rest of the season is if one of the top 3 lose.
I think the poll will stay fairly still, but that is fine, we're in a good position. Good luck to all on Wed.

New rankings came out. Hope stays at 4 and Augustana jumps ahead of them to 3. Hope had 2 more points than Augustana last week and Augustana has 2 more points this week including a number 1 vote they must have gotten from Witt.

I know these rankings don't mean a lot in the end but how Augustana picked up a #1 vote over Hope while beating Carthage (9-12) by 7. Hope beat Carthage by 14. And beating North Park (4-17). Meanwhile Hope beat the #6 team even if Albion did lose twice last week that was a much bigger win than anything Augustana had. Augustana is a good team, I saw them online at IWU. But this was not the week for someone to give them a first place vote over Wooster, Lawerence, or Hope.

Augustana didn't "pick up" a No. 1 vote this week, they did last week after winning at Illinois Wesleyan.

Nobody on the voting panel plays comparative scores that way. The difference between a seven-point win and a 14-point win is meaningless.

Well after the controversies of last week, I have decided to finally make my own account. I want to apologize for what was written last week under the name wmball, all I can say is sometimes people take advantage or privelages we give them, and also like to make asses out of their friends.

Anyways, I decided it was time I start posting my opinions since I spend every monday and tuesday afternoon doing that anyways with my co workers. This could be fun.

Unfortunatly I already screwed up my profile, its supposed to be mjf in the first three letters, not mfj, how I can screw something up that relates to one of my all time favorite movies I don't know. But at any rate, this is me, this is my name, sorry about what happened last week I was made aware of it by a few friends who questioned me about why I would write something like that on d3hoops, and I was like ummmm I didn't know that I had an account. But at any rate, thats over with, lets talk some dutchmen, and MIAA basketball. Supposedly I know all so feel free to pick my brain.

I thought your post last week was excellent, mfj.

Pat,

I was glad to see B-W move up into the Top 5 with a first place vote.  I know we argued about this early in my posting career but they are a very good team with a great post player in Tori Davis.  I've only seen them twice and they looked real good to me.  I didn't believe people were giving them enough credit after they beat Wooster.  I've seen most of the good teams in the OAC, MIAA and the NCAC and believe B-W will cause some problems at the end of the year.

Picket Fence

What would the spread have to be before you took Calvin? I'd say at least 8, probably 10.

How low would Calvin fans go and still take Calvin?  I there are no lines and I'm not trying to set or create one, but it's often said that to find out how much someone believes, make them put their money on the table.
Don't get caught watching the paint dry.

The official line would be Hope -6.

I bet some Hope fans would bet with Hope being favored by 10 or more though.

PS -- You have probably figured this out already, but you can go into your profile and modify it, if you'd like to change your screen name and make those initials line up the way you want them too.   :)

Although I would agree that Hope would be favored, there is no way the line would be any bigger than 6 points, in a rivaly game like this, where both teams are tired for the conference lead, the visiting team would never be favored by more than 6. But say that it was 6 points, I still would probably not take that, I think this is going to be one of those classics with Hope pulling it out in the last minute.
Should be a good game all the way, Hope is more talented, but Calvin is playing for revenge, and a leg up on the conference title in front of its home crowd. Can't wait to watch!!!

All I ask for is a close game.

Calvin seems to be shooting a lot better and is always a tough team to be at home, obviously.  They just need to have VERY few turnovers and rebound!
