Are you guys aware there's a post on the NCAA's blog with a poll question asking what the best rivalry is?

Calvin-Hope is getting trounced. Needs your input.

Voted!

I'm not sure a rivalry can really be accurately judged by numbers alone but that breakdown is cool to see anyway.  Looks like Calvin-Hope is really hurt by the lack of national titles and tournament appearances, but it's by far the closest rivalry for the number of games played.  They should really include the average margin of victory, it's what, less than half a point in Hope's favor?

Anyway, we all know and love the rivalry and it's always good to see it get some exposure on a more national level, even if just a website.

UM-Flint may begin an athletic department by 2010 and is considering NAIA, NCAA Div II, and NCAA Div III.  It would be nice to have another in-region opponent in the state...

Anyone else a little piqued that they referred to it as the "Calvin-Hope Rivalry" and not the "Hope-Calvin Rivalry"? The latter is, inter alia, more mellifluous.
One Mississippi, Two Mississippi...

It's been a few years since I took grammar but from memory I believe the grammatically preferred way is to go alphabetically. That's why I always use Calvin/Hope, and not because I want to give the Knights top billing. Normally I do the same when I recite several players, schools or other lists containing similar species.

Its always bugged me that there aren't many small private colleges in the east side of the state.   Think of all the private schools around Chicago and the complete lack of them around Detroit and even more so in the Tri-Cities of Flint/Saginaw/Bay City..................Rochester U/Madonna/Marygrove/UM-Dearborn, thats about it.

After a hiatus last year, I think we'll do a fan poll this year.

MVP
... list your picks 1, 2, 3..........3pts for 1st, 2 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd.

All-MIAA
We'll pick an all-miaa team like the MIAA does,  6 on the first team, 6 on the 2nd team.  3 points for a 1st team vote, 1 point for a second team vote.

Coach of the year
One vote for coach of the year

Freshman or Newcomer of the year
One vote

As always have fun and I encourage using the stats on miaa.org.

Feel free to send your ballot via pm or my email, eithers fine.  Lets set a deadline of 6pm Sunday and I'll try and post the results that night.
