I in no way can speak for GVW, but I truly think as people, fans and players look back on  his illustrious coaching career, they will not dwell on the fact that he never won a title(at least to this point). They will remark what a truly great coach he was and what a Godly man he was that had a direct, positive influence on hundreds of young men. He realizes the true reward comes in the hereafter, not in the here and now!Titles are nice, but souls are eternal!  It seems the only people that are critical are the media(it's their job to come up with drivel like Babbling Babbit wrote) and those who are Calvin "fan"atics who want to compare the lack of titles to their two.

The d3hoops crews tournament projections.  They have Calvin out.......they had Wheaton out last year.

They have Hope in a pod with John Carroll, Medaille and playing Wooster.

Are you insinuating that KVS and Calvin supporters are solely focused on the here and now, and not focused on the eternal? Why not have eternal life and a couple of National Titles while we're here ;)

I think you forgot to mention the chant, "Where's your banner(s)? Where's your banner(s)?"

It's a go-to for the Calvin student section, whenever they can't think of anything else to say.

[-3 and +11 doesn't give me high hopes for a 30 point Calvin win, but I'd venture to say 15-17 points is more likely...

"missed it by that much"

What can I say... I'm full of crap! Having seen one live MIAA game in 6 years hardly makes me an expert. Calvin is playing well, but did anyone in their right mind expect 80+% shooting in the first half???

I sense you may have misunderstood my reply (my appologies)- I was trying to give you props for predicting the score within a single point

I should apologize... I did read it wrong, but not specifically because I thought you were poking me, but because I misread the Calvin score and actually thought they won by 90-62 (28 points instead of 18).

But the point still remains... I am full of crap, because my prognostication was just a guess based on scores. If that were the case I would have predicted a much closer game last night... But of course I'm happy with the outcome!

It hurts that it works, doesn't it?  I mean, where are your National Championship banners?  Besides the women's teams banner?

I was thinking that if Calvin won last night, they were probably one and out.  I have the same thought about Hope.  One and done.

If Calvin doesn't make the tournament there isn't a single player on the roster who's season hasn't ended at the hands of Hope every year.

What shadow?

The d3hoops has always been pretty good at predicting the teams that get in.........not so much at bracketing.  This is plausible like so many others.

I do think Hope/Wooster is a possibility.

Not in the slightest, please don't get me wrong. All I am saying is that is what I believe about the character and faith of GVW and what is important to him.

My wife and I are from Holland (her parents went to Hope) - this would be a very exciting matchup for us.

I honestly think it has 0% affect.  It's not like there is anyone currently attending Calvin who was part of either of those teams.  It's just something you can count on hearing at every single Hope-Calvin game.

You've got to be kidding!  I think your Orange and Blue spectacles are working overtime.  If you don't think that tradition plays any part in the appeal of both these teams, then I don't know what else to say.  Part of the tradition of success is that Calvin has made it all the way to the top (twice  ;) ).  As much as we have to suck it up that Hope has been ending Calvin's season year after year, you have to suck it up that we have won it all, and hold the trump card.  To say that none of the players on this team were on those teams is like saying that you should not take pride or even mention Hope's success this year, because you are not on the team.  It is all part of the fun!

Trump card? Even the Detroit Lions have won 4 NFL Championships... And have banners!

Of course I'm not comparing Calvin Basketball to Detroit football, but you know what I mean.
