4 of the top 7 teams in that regional. Holy Cow!
One Mississippi, Two Mississippi...

Hope got a killer draw. Platteville then Wheaton pottentially! I mean just Wheaton and Platteville in the same pod is intense.

I was afraid they'd but Hope in my backyard and I'd be out of town for the game.

6 out of 8 in the Top 25. I can't imagine there's going to be a tougher one than that.
One Mississippi, Two Mississippi...

I just tried printing out a bracket but the printer was knocked over when it tried printing the lower left of the page.

Hope would likely have to beat the teams ranked 5th, 4th, 2nd, and 1st to get to Salem.

Wow.
One Mississippi, Two Mississippi...

Seems the team to get to the final 4 from this bracket, either wins the whole thing, or falls over dead from exhaustion!

I didnt vote but how is GVW NOT coach of the year?  2 losses by 1 point and one by 2 or they go undefeated in the league with 4 new starters and essentially a lineup of kids who did not play many minutes at all last year (JR excepted of course)

He may not be coach of the year, but I'm sure he's the godliest.

Dutch_Man

WoW! Hey if the dutchmen can play their game, who knows what can happen! I guess it is time to start researching UW-Platteville.

Wow.

Proof once again that the DIII is the NCAA's red headed step child and that a place in the achievement of making the final four is determined by the road you took, not the destination.

I realize that the nature of D3 makes proximity a huge, huge issue.  I also realize that the Massey MOV ratings are NOT the selection criteria.  However, a little bit more parity could be desired.  If I'm WashU, Wheaton, UWP, UWSP, UWW, Puget Sound, or St. Thomas, I think I have a right to be disgruntled

Jeff Skemp, 6'10", Sr, 18.2, 5.7
Curt Hanson, 6'1", Jr, 13.8, 3.8
Mike Shaw, 6'1", Jr, 13.6, 3.2
Charlie Lohoff, 6'3", Sr, 9.0, 4.0, 4.0A
Nick Allen, 6'4", So, 6.0, 2.7,
Eric Wall, 6'5" So, 4.7, 2.8,

Hanson and Shaw combined to shoot 123/290 from three, a 42.4% clip

Skemp is the horse, a true center.  Venema will have to be huge, I doubt Jesse or Zach can handle Skemp.

Probably has something to do with KVS winning the league...

Just a guess.

Toughest draw possible really.  I think 5 teams in the bracket received #1 votes at some point this year.

I'm still amazed at how much time gets wasted on comparing teams regionally and then we pair them against no one in their region.  Six tournaments and only 1 time has Hope gone through the Great Lakes part of the bracket.........guess where we ended up that year.

Wheaton it is, Go Hope!

If I didn't attend the game last Saturday and was a Hope fan, I would be happy to know from reading this board that Calvin fans are all devils and Hope fans are perfect angels that attend basketball games.  Hope fans would never steal a flag from a little kid (don't post the youtube link or a particular Hope fan will delete it and send you a nasty PM).  Anyways, the Calvin "tripping kid" was ejected and he will be severely disciplined Calvin's judicial affairs department.  That is one person.  And it looked like Joust the Knight wanted to brawl as well someone said?  Unless he was motioning Hope fans to come over to him, can you please tell me how you can know that?  Do you have the ability to see his facial reactions under that weird costume he wears?

After the last 2 Calvin wins over Hope, there were numerous Hope fans that were complaining about the refs.  Saturday night,  the fouls were pretty lopsided in the second half, and not one Calvin fan complained about the refs on this board.  For the record, I thought they were fair.  Hope just was more aggressive and drew more fouls.

As for the banner chant.  It happens elsewhere too.  I've seen IU fans do it to Purdue fans. And I've seen UNC fans do it to Duke fans (who has more than Duke).

Yes Saturday's game mattered more, but Calvin's two victories over Hope mattered also.  Their will still be a trophy sitting outside the Van Noord arena that says 2009 MIAA champions.

Well before the season I made two predictions.  One was that Calvin would win the league and Hope would win the tourney.  That came true.  I also said Rodts would have a monster impact on the Calvin team.  That came true, as he started most of the year after being on JV last season.  Now it's time for me to hush, as it is Hope that is still playing their season, not Calvin.

Which was also the point I brought up after the 2nd Hope game about Calvin.............and no one called Hope's fans angels..........you did.
