I heard the next major build going up  in GR is the NW Hope Fan Center for Dutch Love.

Well... I can say I'm quite proud of myself. I don't think I have ever gotten stinger to react to me...

Two points: 1)Someone else is going to have to come up with the money, and 2) "I aint much" (so no real love here  ;) )

They didn't get dominated on the glass, they got dominated in FG shooting.

Hope was out rebounded by a little more than 3-2.  I don't know if that's dominated or not but it's more than a team would prefer.
Is it realistic to expect better when 3 out 5 rebounds falls at one end of the floor?

All 3 WIAC teams bow out of the tournament in round 2.

All 3 WIAC teams bow out of the tournament in round 2.

2 losses by 3
1 by 5 in OT

The 3 losses were to #1, #2, and # 3 teams in the D3 Hoops top 25.
Wow

sac

Couple good games in the Great Lakes bracket

John Carroll 76 Carnegie Mellon 74
Capital 72 Wooster 70

UT Dallas 70 Trinity 54
Guilford 91 Averett 81

Sets up a Sectional with Capital vs UT-Dallas; Guilford v John Carroll.  That might end up being hosted at John Carroll

#9 Middlebury lost, and DeSales knocked off Ithaca.

#2Wheaton v #3Washington
#1St. Thomas v probably #7Puget Sound

sac

Both Capital and JCU won on last second shots.

And did not deserve the hand they were dealt.

Nor did at least 7-8 other teams in the Bracket of Death.

Oh well, for the survivor, Salem oughta feel like round one! ;)

I'm not a big fan of the "if these teams met ten times" argument. It's speculative, and proves nothing.  No one claimed that UWP's win was a fluke, or that the margin wasn't indicative of the way the teams played. Nor would any Hope fan likely make the argument that this year's Hope team was the equal of UWP. So why is it used as a rhetorical device? I guess to help fans measure exactly how big the gap is between the two teams. How many times would Wash U have beaten Hope last year? We don't know, but we might say 6 out of 10 because, deluded though we might be, we don't think the gap between those two teams was very big, while we realize the gap between Hope and UWP this year is quite large. I suppose it's a palliative measure, but typically not speculation the winning team needs to engage.

Well, maybe CBS can consider for the next "Survivor" show following this year's "Survivor: Tocantins" - Survivor: NCAA Basketball Pairings for Div III!!!"   ;D

Some random thoughts from the Hope/UWP game (which I tried to post twice before, and both times they got lost in cyberspace):

- The first 12 minutes of the game were very competitive and Hope held their own.  As mentioned by sac and others, the end of the first half was really Hope's doom - a strech of cold shooting and some lapses on D and UWP had a 16 point half-time lead, and the momentum.

- I was really pleased with how hard the entire Hope team played, this loss was not due to lack of effort, they were simply beaten by better team - who also had an extremely hot night shooting the ball.

- I would love to see a rematch between these teams without the media timeouts.  The UWP players all seemed winded mid-way through the 1st half, and really seemed to fight that the remainder of the game.  Hope had a definite speed & quickness advantage, so a "normal" paced game might have had a different outcome (NO - I am not saying the media timeouts is why Hope lost).

- Despite the pain of a season ending loss, I'm sure that the Hope players and coaches will ultimately assess this as a truly successful season.  I know as a fan, coming into this year, if I would have been offered 20+ wins and another trip to the NCAAs I would have jumped at that chance.

- It's always sad to see a senior leave his last game - but  Reimink, Osburn, and Bosch gave all they had, and that's all anyone could ask for.  It was unfortunate that Cox had sprained his MCL in practice and was unable to take the floor for his final game.

- Most shocking quote overheard at the game... one of the officials made a call that the ball was out off a Hope player, when it was clearly off a UWP player.  From what I saw, the UWP player was also clearly fouled by the Hope player.  When the Hope bench questioned the call, the official's response was "That was actually a foul on you, but I'm giving them the ball out of bounds".  Hmmm - I have always thought that this kind of "trade off" was done by officials, but to hear one openly admit it???

- As always, the fans were great, and supported the team to the end.  Great to see 20-30 students or more made the trip as well (on a very busy weekend on the Hope campus with Dance Marathon going on).  It was a bit dissapointing that 50% of the seats behind the visiting bench (Hope & Fontbonne) were taken by Wheaton supporters.  A full two rows of those were empty (being saved) by the home fans throughout the entire Hope game, while Hope fans were forced to sit elsewhere.  Seems to me that common courtesy (or a sign put up by Wheaton staff) would allow a visiting team to sit behind their own bench.

- While a win (or two) would have been nice, the experience was still great - even if one fan left with a pain in the gluteus maximus   ;D

And knowing how hard it is to beat a team 3 times in a season    :D  , trying to win 10 times would be exponentially harder!
