It was an honest thought for a relevant off season topic.

It depends on how much of an "off-season" one is having. ;)

5'11" PG Spencer Jennings of Midland Dow to Hope. From this video, it looks like he is an outside shooter.

April 20 is early to be burying Hope's recruiting class and it wasn't necessarily directed at you..........just an in general  ::)

I assume this is coming from Stephen Bell's site.............two more both for Kzoo   6-4 Mike Rosenberg of Traverse City West, 5-10 Jake Olds of Berkley.

Spencer Jennings, was named Class A 5th team all-state by the Detroit Free Press, Stephen Bell had him #28 on his pre-season list of gaurds.

Rosenberg and Olds were both ranked by Stephen Bell #34 forward, #40 PG...........I don't believe either received all-state honors.

KVD may go the MVH route, go away to a D1 school for a year and decide it wasn't for him.  Hope has a way of bringing the prodigals home.  It's hard for a kid to be that far away from home.

Well said.  :) Having observed GVW for years now I doubt he is losing any sleep over who might be coming next fall.

Has any Calvin fan heard any word on Bryan Van Harn returning?

Not to mention the success of recruits nobody ever heard of that went on to become All-Americans - aka Cramer and Reimink.

Hope had a ridiculously good and talented JV team last season, and they also return 4 varsity starters.  I doubt it any Hope fans (not that they seem to be doing it yet), nor should any MIAA fans, should put too much importance into their '09 recruiting class.

Word from a reliable source stated that Snuggerud was seen playing with the Hope players and a couple of recruits recently which would lead me to believe that he is still considering options.

speaking of zeeland...did snuggerud also end up at calvin, or is he still considering options?

Snuggerud: what does he bring to the table?

As for Van Harn.  Didn't he take a year off to study overseas?

WOTS is that he's considering three options. In alphabetical order they are Calvin, Cornerstone and Hope. I have no idea which school, if any, is the favorite but apparently he's played at open gyms on each campus. That's not surprising considering his home is a short drive to any of these schools, and is something I would expect him to do to get a feel for the environment at each institution.

Snuggerud: what does he bring to the table?

He's a smooth 6'5" center/forward with long arms, good footwork and a nice touch around the basket. When he was a junior I thought he was a good, but not dominating high school post but every time I watched him play he seemed to have improved a little bit from the time before. Whichever school lands him is likely to be happy. Steve Bell offered his opinion with this summary comparing Snuggerud with Flint Powers' 6'7" post Rodney Anderson, against whom Snuggerud played in the state finals:

Snuggerud is great defensively. After the semifinals, Bridgeport coach Jason Kowalski said his team's offensive struggles were because Zeeland East was so long and athletic. Throw in thick for Snuggerud (and 6-4 senior Jace Heneveld) and that's how the Chix got it done on the blocks. After being limited by fouls in the semis, he had 14 points and 11 boards in the championship game. Anderson is headed to Saginaw Valley State, while Snuggerud would be a great D3 forward.

"We are very excited to have Kyle and his family join our program," said Dement. "For most of this year, we have been trying to recruit a point guard who can score and we are fortunate that we were able to be involved with Kyle and his recruitment. He is an outstanding student, having visited Stanford and Harvard last fall. We project that he will come into our program and impact our lineup right away. Kyle has the ability to put up big numbers by scoring in a variety of ways. He has the ability to get into the lane and draw fouls; he is an excellent free throw shooter and is a very intelligent player who leads well.  He has that point guard mentality of making other the players around him better.

I know it is typical at the DI level to offer parents a job at the school, but UNC-Greensboro?

MORE I have one question to ask the witness. (RICH stops) That's a chain of office you are wearing. (Reluctantly RICH faces him) May I see it? (NORFOLK motions him to approach. MORE examines the medallion) The red dragon. (To CROMWELL) What's this?

CROMWELL Sir Richard is appointed Attorney-General for Wales.

MORE (Looking into RICH'S face, with pain and amusement) For Wales? Why, Richard, it profits a man nothing to give his soul for the whole world . . . But for Wales! (Exit RICH, stiff-faced, but infrangibly dignified)

Just a hunch, but I see Snuggerud ending up at Hope. Without over-generalizing, Hope seems to do a little better recruiting the public school kids, Calvin with the Christian school kids.
