Looks as though Hope will need to start a search for a new JV coach.  Word has it that Coach Elliot is taking over the varsity coaching job at his High School Alma mater Hudsonville.  Best of luck to him with turning that program around and thanks for all the great work he did at Hope!

that would be to bad for hope but good for eric  is going to be a good coach
i love hope  sports all of them are really great to watch

Eric is already a great coach. Many players have benefited immensely from his tutelage within the Hope program. I am sure hope1 meant that, but make it clear, he has already helped many a player!

I hope it's not true that he is leaving the Hope program but if so, Eric will do a great job in the high school ranks.  It may take him a couple of years to get some of the interest back up at the lower levels that will feed into the varsity program but that shouldn't be a problem given the athletes going through the system.

In watching the JV program the past couple of years, Eric does a great job figuring out the right rotations to play in certain situations.  He will be greatly missed!  Good luck, Eric!

I'm going to remove Brad Ostergren from Hope's list untill I get another confirmation........I'm not confident that greatlakeshoops.com has that correct anymore.

This is strike-two......

Nothing on the D3 front this weekend..........but Cornerstone will be getting Derek Kingshott who is leaving the Hillsdale football program presumebly to play basketball for the Eagles.  Hillsdale has him listed as 6-4 TE

So far the only other commitment the Eagles have on their web page is Joey Saladino 5-10 G from Forest Hills Central

sac

Check that...........two to Alma

Russell Hope, 5-9 PG Swartz Creek  #34 PG by Stephen Bell

Jordan Dieck, 6-4 F Swartz Creek, Class A Honorable Mention

hope#1

Derek Kingshott will be playing basketball for Cornerstone next year.  Derek's about 6'4" and 225 pounds but will probably play a little lighter than that come basketball season.  He should be a good fit for Cornerstone, playing along side big brother again.

Calvin's 2009-10 hoops schedule is now up at: http://www.calvin.edu/sports/mens/basketball/schedule.htm

As usual, the Knights open their season with the Tip-Off Tournament which this year invites Lake Forest and also includes not only Grace Bible (as usual), but for the first time ever--Davenport. The following weekend (November 27-28), VanNoord is the host site for the HOF Tournament and the week after that is the MIAA/CCIW challenge at Hope. Calvin only plays one "true" road game before Christmas and that's at Aquinas.

The Christmas/New Year holiday week finds Calvin at the Phoenix Cactus Jam, the same tournament in which Albion participated last year. I think this might be the year I find time for desert golf during the long Michigan winter.

Interestingly, Calvin opens its MIAA season by hosting Hope. I can't remember the last time Calvin opened the conference by playing their archrival.

Wed. Jan 6.   Hope at Calvin
Sat.  Jan 30.  Calvin at Hope

I don't think they've ever opened the MIAA schedule against each other before.
