So Dren/Sac/FDF/OldKnight/ etc...

If Albion beats Calvin, forcing a 2 way tie for 1st place--how do we determine the seedings for the MIAA tourney? I do believe that the tiebreaker I heard once was records vs. the remaining teams, which would be a wash 3-8 since both Calvin and Hope each only lost to 3) Albion. So what then? When does the coin toss come into play?

Everybody loves Raymond. Except Chuck Norris.

If Albion beats Calvin, which would force a tie for first place, then there would be a coin toss.  Remember not too far back Albion and Hope were tied, and b/c Albion won the coin toss, they got the tournament at Kresge.

Balanced scoring for Hope, ...........VanSolkema played 8 minutes, 4 pts, 2 steals.

Uh yeah.......passively pay attention to the broadcast and then just assume things were as they've been all year.

Cramer 19, Immink 17, VanderHeide 13........Phillips with 8 and 10 bds.

Adrian had balanced scoring......only difference in game 1 and 2 was the 14 pts by Collins vs 0 in Holland.

Hope's committing a lot more turnovers than they were earlier in the year.  17 today but Adrian always forces a lot of turnovers.

Other top performers

Crawford with 18 and 11 bds.........including 18 FT attempts  :o

Zak Silas with 19 for the Brits as well

Meckes with 17 for Calvin including 7-7 from the floor.

Alma had 5 players in double figures, Massey with 24.

Moore with 21 for the Thunder.

Someone asked about tiebreakers.....this is from Pat Coleman awhile back.....

Quote from: Pat Coleman on February 06, 2006, 02:15:06 PM
Here's what I was given today as MIAA tiebreakers:

1) head-to-head
2) compare each team's record against the team highest in the standings and continue down the standings until the tie is broken
3) if there is still a tie, highest ranked team in the lastest NCAA regional rankings
4) if neither team is ranked in regional rankings, a coin flip conducted by the commissioner

No. 3 was adopted Dec. 6, 2004

#3 is the one that would apply this year if Calvin loses to Albion and Hope/Calvin tie for the lead.   If Calvin would lose to Kzoo,  Hope would host.

Now if Hope loses to Tri-State and still ends up tied with Calvin it would end up at Calvin.

The Chuck Norris military unit was not used in the game Civilization 4, because a single Chuck Norris could defeat the entire combined nations of the world in one turn.

3 scores of National interest

Hope "weak" schedule interest

......and just interest in general

Wheaton 69  #7 Illinois Wesleyan 66.....second top 10 win for Wheaton THIS week.

Carthage 85  #15 North Central 73

Milliken 73  #3 Augustana 71.......two last second shots one for each team.

Looks like you're quoting Mike Reinhard's stat line.  If so, you're not making a whole ton of sense.  "Every year the same crap?"  He's only a freshman.

It seems as though you're beginning with one player's stat line and then, without warning, jump into a criticism of the whole program.  How about a little transitional phrase next time?

I'll be the first to admit I wasn't at the game today, but from the sounds of things, Adrian played pretty darn well.  I mean, Nokovich had 7 assists, and is leading the league in assists, but I'm sure he doesn't see the floor very well.   Adrian had 18 turnovers today to Hope's 17, would you care to suggest that the #4 team in the country also doesn't see the floor well?

As a matter of fact, take a look at the overall stats.  They are remarkably similar.  Nearly the same FG percentage.  Nearly the same turnovers.  Adrian had a better Assist-Turnover ratio.  Hope had a few more steals.

Where was the difference in the game?  Two places:  rebounding and free throw shooting.  Hope outrebounded the Bulldogs 40-26, and made 14 more free throws (they took 13 more).

Now, why was there a rebounding advantage?  Could it be coaching?  Yeah.  But is it also possible that Hope outrebounded Adrian because they're just plain taller, and because Adrian's big guys spent a lot of the middle of the game on the bench with foul trouble?  Which is more likely?

Why did Hope shoot more FTs?  Well, it could be any number of things, but I'm betting the fact that they had a size advantage in the post had something to do with it, and the fact that our big guys were in foul trouble tends to confirm my hypothesis.

Please, allsportball, don't ruin what was a pretty competitive game against a very good basketball team.

Workman-like win today for the Knights at Olivet.  Nothing spectacular or particularly surprising, just came out with the W.

One unfortunate incident took place following the game as the Olivet players exited the gym and made their way to the lockerroom.  Apparently a disgruntled student "fan" made a comment to one of the assistant coaches.  The coach responded to the effect of "Come on [N word], we're from the same side of the tracks"
Head Coach Kurt Soderberg responded by expressing his dissatisfaction with the lack of support in terms of cheering from their fans.  He then said, "You're the problem with this place".  Now, I can only speak for what I witnessed directly but the obvious disconnect between team and fans (or lack there of) makes it hard for me to see any sort of improvement or progression for the Comet basketball program.  The truth is that they have some nice players but its sad to see how no one really cares, other than to make cause some commotion after another loss.

On a better note, Congratulations to De'Andre Pruitt on becoming the 11th player in OC history to score 1,000 career points.  De'Andre has always been a lot of fun as a visiting player at the Calvin Fieldhouse (where he is affectionately known as "Luda" because of the obvious striking resemblence) as he is easily one of the most interactive players in the MIAA.

Big game for the Knights on Wednesday as they basically play for their claim to the outright regular season championship.  Should be a good one.  Hard to believe that even if they lose the remaining two games Calvin would end up with an identical league record to last year's team.

Who would have thought even a few weeks ago that Calvin, not Hope or Albion, would be in the team in control of their destiny?  The "baby" Knights really have stepped it up and have shown that they can hang with the big clubs and maybe make some noise in the big dance.

Bulldogalum I will spell it out for you.
1. Every year same **** player having bad game and coach not able to see it leaves them in the game giving their team nothing. Look at BC olivet stats and minutes just one of  many examples.
2. Rebounding that is embarassing Buck puts a lineup of 5'6 to 5'8 players on the floor. Cory 5'7  guarding a 6'9' person. 6 offensive boards on one shot then Look at the Olivet game tape
3. Pressing and burying  yourself. Press has not worked at all this year only to create larger spreads in the game. Why?

The President was there last night noticed several people having conversations with him?

Janet Jones Gretzky likes the way the Knights have been playing and has put her money on the home team.
