Vanderheide? He's never played with his back to the basket, and doubt he's going to start now.

What does anyone know about Hare and Partridge on Hope's roster?

calvin_grad

Hare's got hops and Partridge can fly.

Sorry couldn't resist.   ;D

It's been a long week and it's only Tuesday.

Hello D3 hoops, and welcome to my new topic. It is my goal to give you real news on Alma basketball and other MIAA schools. As a player in the MIAA I feel I can provide you with some answers you may like to know about and deliver it to you from a players perspective. Matters such as player news and coaches will be available. I look forward to some good topics of discussion. Look for my newest post.

Are you related to the late, unlamented Alma****? We hardly knew him, his stay was so short .... :'(

sagstud

By no means am I related to that guy. He does go to my school and really hates my coach. I do know the fella but that's about it. He really did not justice in putting that on here. I figured since I've been a member on here for a while and never really posted anything on here that I would start my own topic. I really enjoy reading what you guys have to say about MIAA hoops but I never see anything about Alma on here. Which I can understand. Alma doesn't have the greatest basketball history. It's all Calvin, Hope and Albion. Hopefully that will all change this year with us doing big things this year. Thanks for the reply.

If you want to discuss Alma, please feel free to do so on the Let's Talk MIAA board.  There's plenty of room available.

Toph

The way you talk make you sound like a player.  I hope not.

Mr. Ypsi

Toph,

In his opening post, he specifically SAYS he is a player (twice)!

I would agree that the MIAA board would be a much more appropriate forum.  And DC is, alas, correct that there is no shortage of space available!

sagstud

Player or not I still feel I should and can voice my opinion on different matters that are interest to me and others. Rather it be on Alma Basketball or other MIAA matters. I don't believe there's anything wrong with that is it. Thank you David for the invite to the talk board. I will follow up and join the discussion table soon. Like I said my goal isnt' to put Alma out there as being beter than any other school. I just wanted to open some ears to Alma since alot of people generally have the same idea of what Alma Basketball is about. Thank you for your concerns.

ss - no doubt you have something to offer to all of us about Alma - so bring it to the MIAA board.  The only reason that you tend to see the majority of comments about Hope, Calvin, and Albion is because there are posters who follow those teams.  We would all welcome your insight on Alma.

Alma basketball is sorry bottom line.  You guys had the league leading scorer for two years and he got no help from anyone.  Kohtala is a terrible coach ( I was at the Olivet game) Tell me when do call time out when the ball is already in your best players hands.  Alma has lost too much and not brought anything in.  Unless Jones is back (which I know he isn't) you guys can have fun trying to beat the Basement dwellers for last place.  Good luck with that #23 kid at center can you say CHOKE!

sagstud

Real smooth "aplayerhater", you really have class. This discussion board isn't about labeling certain players or trashing a coach for decisions he may or may not have made in a game. Bottom line, as head coach he has to make that decesion as to what he believes is best for the team. You haven't put in the hours and hard work to try and turn this program from laughing stock to top of MIAA. I agree, we haven't been much to talk about over the year but if you gonna be real than be real and stop pretending to be someone your not. You simply just don't know. AJ is a great player. As my teamate and best friend I wish him well at Northwood but just simply having the leading scorer for two years doesn't guarantee you anything in this league or any league for that matter. Ask MJ and his 86-87 Bulls. To say Aj never had help is also not true. In his second year he had help from #34. A freshmen as well as 2nd team all conference from last year. So I ask you to know the facts before you comment on matters you don't know or understand. Save the playerhating for someone who gives 2 cents. Holla

Guys - I'm a bit confused, you both are talking about AJ being gone to Northwood, yet I see his name on the Alma roster on the Alma site - what gives??

Many MIAA schools have a policy that prevent athletes and staff from posting on these boards.  I am surprised that Alma hasn't adopted a similar policy.

So, practice has started.  The Hornets have their second annual exhibition vs Western Michigan coming up on the 5th I believe.  Last year they put a little scare into the Broncos.

With the extra invites to the tourney, could the MIAA send 3 teams?
There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.
