Bouma has good quickness and seems to be an excellent ball handler, not much of a scorer other than layups today.  He doesn't start for AA Huron which isn't really a knock on him as much it says how good Huron's starting back-court is.......I imagine AJ Mathew and Matt Hastings will be getting D1 looks this summer.  John Beilein was at the semi's today and it wouldn't shock me at all if he he was there to see those two.......as an Ann Arbor resident he may have just been there to show support.

More than likely he was there to watch his 2011 commit Carlton Brundidge from Southfield and 2010 prospect Isiah Sykes from Denby.

Despite the fact that Bouma doesn't start he is the third leading scorer on the River Rats team at 10 per game. I suspect that most of those points come in transition. He's got excellent quickness and great hops. I saw him two hand a dunk in pregame warmups and he's a sure ball handler. The Huron senior I sat next to told me that Jalen is a terrific baseball player.

Sounds like it could be fun to see Powell and Bouma on the floor at the same time. Add Schnyders and Snikkers in the mix and we could see a lineup that runs more than any Calvin team I've seen.

Tim Stoudt took a couple seconds out of his nightly Spartan lovefest sports report on TV-10 to announce Jon Horford (son of Tito) from Grand Ledge had committed to Michigan.  So Beilein had another good reason to be in town today.  Unfortunately due to a horrible misprint in the Lansing State Journal a few weeks ago I didn't get to see Grand Ledge or Horford this year.

Van Wieren, Davalaar, and Mike Turner were in the house at the Breslin today........and I think I saw Mark White talking to Beilein but I'm not sure.

.....and Fred Jackson, and if you know who that is, give yourself +k

Fred Jackson is the running backs coach at Michigan.....and his son goes to Huron so i'm guessing that's why he was there.

Actually his son Jeremy Jackson is an early enrollee at UM now, but I'm sure he was there for support.

SBell

Alma with two significant commitments, 6-3 Kyle Aho from Gwinn, his school's all-time leading scorer; and 6-0 Trevor Closs, explosive guard from Cheboygan.

Now the key for Alma is to get more recruits than players leaving the program. Oliver started doing it and they turned into a top half program.

Aho was First Team Class C all-state on Steven Bell's.............er your bankhoops.com team.

Kyle Aho  6-3  Sr  Gwinn
Gwinn's all-time leading scorer, he was a dominant inside-outside player in the U.P. As a senior he averaged 22.9 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2 steals while shooting 51 percent form the field and leading the Modeltowners to their first Mid-Peninsula Conference title in over 40 years.

In today's Class A final Kalamazoo Central scored 54 points in the paint and 18 at the FT line. They scored 74 points total.  Only 2 points outside the lane.

Friday's semi-final games were some of the poorest games to watch in recent memory.  I watched 4 games(128 minutes of basketball )that had a combined 147 fouls called.  Those 4 games also had a combined 147 turnovers.  It wasn't pretty.

Mick McCabe has a good story about Kalamzoo Central coach and Albion grad Mike Thomas.  He's only 26 and done very well.

The NCAA Frozen Four will be played at Ford Field in a couple weeks and will have a d3 connection. RIT is a relatively mediocre division III basketball team in the Emprie 8 but competes at the division I level in hockey and advanced to their first ever Frozen Four.

I thought Aho would be headed to Hope.
