I'm not on the hiring committee but the person I heard this info from is pretty darn close to the situation. Won't say the name of the person (publicly) because it was said in confidence, although he didn't specifically say "not to say anything".  I guess in this sense it just looks like speculation

key words probably ?

Can someone call Roto-router PLEASE!

Maybe Pat should try and work something out with TMZ since people seem to be so interested in gossip and not facts.

This is a message board -- not sure what you expect of it. I mean, this isn't mlive, but it's still a forum, and forums are what forums are, even ones which require registration.

less rumors and speculation isn't too much to ask is it?

Did I sit in your seat this winter or something?

I don't claim to be the sharpest knife in the drawer, so can help assist me with HopeConverts earlier and brief response?  "I stand corrected".  Was that a sarcastic response because cambria321 said it wasn't nonsense, or because HC's response of "I have to believe that is complete nonsense" was indeed incorrect?

I know how I read his post but I don't want to speculate

I was being sarcastic. A simple counter-assertion is not an argument.

I don't know for sure what's going on, but I would be very surprised if they would "re-interview" all the candidates. I have heard no hard evidence to corroborate that claim.

WOW

You guys are all worse than a "women in office" argument on a Sunday after a beef roast and mashed potatoes dinner.

KVS took over the Calvin job July 2nd 1996. Pretty sure Calvin's decision to hire late turned out okay.

I totally respect Hope for taking their time in this matter, I mean its a heck of a lot easier to hire the wrong guy over the guy who is going to get you to Salem. Hope is one of the best private institutions in the nation for a reason; good character, academcis, tradition, and Christian beliefs, not impulsiveness.

I get that this is a blog board and everyone is entitled to their own opinions, bickerings, and crabbiness. But come on, every single person here wants Hope to hire the right guy. The guy that will keep them competitive, because without Hope the MIAA becomes a one HORSE race. No offense to you Albion, I will give you your props the once a decade you decide to punish people. The better Hope is the better for the MIAA, and you wont continue to be competitive if you hire the first guy you interview.

So I say take your time Hope, find someone to get you that illusive banner.

What, no ham buns?   ;D   ;)

Thank you for putting this in perspective.  I was wondering when KVS "took office", but wasn't motivated enough to find the date.  (I'll take your word for it.   ;)  )

I believe Hope is on top of the situation and has their best interests at heart.  I'm sure the search committee knows what is important.  We will all find out soon enough...but not TOO soon.  Patience, Grasshoppah.

"What, no ham buns?"

We reserve ham buns for special occasions such as:

Family Reunions
Graduation's
Youth Group
Christmas leftovers
Easter leftovers
Wedding Receptions in the CRC basement
Christian School Fundraisers(Unity still is looking for donations...)
Funerals

So I'm basically saying that we step it up to high class on Sunday afternoon's.  ;)

Don't forget the Thanksgiving dinner leftovers variant:  turkey buns!   :D

I can understand why Hope fans are getting antsy, but usually one of the biggest reasons for wanting to get a new coach in place as soon as possible is to avoid disruptions in recruiting. Recruiting is over for this year, and Hope got a couple nice recruits, so I wouldn't think the delay in naming the new coach is hurting the program much.

krytonite

I probably missed it, but who are Hope's recruits?

hoopdreams

I've been told on this board a couple of times that until a deposit is made for their tuition and/or they show up for class the first day, you can only speculate on who is going to what school.  Even if Steve Bell posts it or its on a players Facebook "lots of things can change".

Based on what I've read and seen with my own eyes (although I haven't watched all of them play, and  haven't seen 1 player for 2 years now) Calvin so far has a clear recruiting advantage over Hope.  I'm sure that could change with last minute changes, decisions, and transfers- one never knows, it's simply my opinion and mere speculation.

I know from talking to Hudsonville people, maybe even currently coaching in the program, maybe even someone coaching in the varsity program, that Austin Elling's decision could change based on who is hired as head coach.

Could someone explain to me what counter-assertion means?

It's when the waitress at the diner leans over the linoleum to fill your coffee cup and tells you that you really, really ought to order the meatloaf special.
