One more thing -- eighth-best in a 12-team league is different from being eighth-best in an eight-team league. Maybe not world-beaters at the end but 11-17 is better than the 2-9 start.

The Dominican in question is in suburban Chicago.

It looks like the Dominican in question has Marquis Turley of Grand Rapids.  I believe he was with Concordia 2 years ago.  Does anyone know the story of how he ended up at Domincan?  Had a great year there.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, Hope will have a tough first game in the tournament against Lake Forest, who ended the year very strongly last year and returns a strong core group.  This will be no cake walk.

I'm sorry I have a natural curiosity of things like random knowledge of D3 teamsmost people have never heard of, but I had looked at Domincan's site earlier this summer when it was announced they might be a Hope opponent.

Is this the same Domincan team? http://www.dc.edu/athletics.aspx  Just curious because I have heard of them.  Must not be the same as this one is DII.

When M. Turley (GR Catholic Central) was at Concordia (MI) he was a "featured scorer". Concordia then lost a lot of their main players during/after the 2008-2009 season due to - whatever, including Turley. He reunited with his cousin (not his brother, from what I was told by a WHAC assistant), Jovan Turley, at Dominican. M. Turley shoots with NO CONSCIENCE - he's actually rather entertaining to watch. Dominican as a team would not be a major challenge to Hope 9 times out of 10. It's that #10 effort that Domincan put out in climbing from #8 seed (in a generally weaker conference than the MIAA) to get to their conference championship game. Scoring 65 in the 2nd half of their quarterfinal win over #1 seed Concordia (WI) certainly didn't hurt.

from where I sit, it really doesn't seem to matter what, to whom, when or how I post anything.

Too much of the conversation on here has deteriorated into its own version of this......

Mike Illitch is interested in buying the Pistons:

If only the NFL would scrap their stupid cross-ownership rule!  With Illitch instead of Ford, the Lions might actually compete for a Super Bowl in my lifetime!

The NFL's rule, as I understand it, would allow Illitch to own the Lions since they're in his current market. It would prevent him from owning any other NFL franchise.

That'll make four years in a row that an MIAA school has participated in the Purple and Gold Tournament.

Tri-State was runner up in 07-08, Calvin won it in 08-09, and Adrian took third place last year.

First round of Albion tournament is Finlandia vs. Lake Superior State and Kenyon vs. Albion. I count only 10 non-conference games on the Britons' schedule, so maybe they'll add another one later.
