And Alma has a "partial" roster posted.  Only 8 players, including sophomore Lance Jongekrijg from Zeeland (was on the state runner up team with Nate Snuggerud).

http://www.alma.edu/athletics/mens/basketball/roster

I'm not sure what this is.....Weiss and Ginther were both listed as Sr's last season,   Brown, Schneider, Erickson and Randall's classes haven't changed.  Only Sheridan and Jongekrijg's class seem to be correct.

I think Thursday is the coaches conference call, I imagine all the rosters will be updated by then (and hopefully accurate)

The Website system Alma uses is crappy, so even if you look at previous seasons, it will show what class they are as of this date

Personally I always bristle when I hear someone say "we've never  played 3 guards here  or that won't work here" or any other lame excuse troted out to cover up a coach's inflexible mindset.  Just because you've always done something one way doesn't mean that another way automatically won't work.   :)

This video clip is even more fun if you think about certain basketball crazed West Michigan hamlets while watching it.

Great clip, certainly applicable for this board and everyone on it and very funny too.  I'd give you karma but I'm not quite that powerful.

Like me, KnightSlappy attended yesterday's winter sports luncheon and on his blog KS has summarized what was said by KVS (as well as the comments of John Ross and the swimming coach). The summary is so complete I have nothing to add and I recommend its reading to Knight fans who didn't attend.

Anyone have an update on where Chris Fear may have landed, now that Dana closed down?

WOTS- Bunn OUT for a while

SAC- how many minutes did hope use that 3 guard set last year?  A couple minutes out of 28-29 games is hardly thinking out of the box.   It was probably an accident with the coaching staff (AKA???) having an implusive reaction, because that NEVER happened.  This is going to be fun....

Hope Bunn is not out too long.  He is obviously a critical part of this year's team:

http://www.hollandsentinel.com/newsnow/x742793292/Hope-College-guard-Peter-Bunn-out-indefinitely-with-injury

Goes without saying this is a  big blow.  It was my opinion last year that one of the reasons Hope struggled to 5-4 in the non-conference and 1st half of the MIAA season was they were slow out of the gate dealing with injuries to Bunn and Venema.  Bunn didn't really play like himself until January.

Its just difficult to become a cohesive team with pieces missing you were counting on.  It slowed the development of last years team significantly.

He will be out for some time.  what are the possibilities/probabilities of a medical red-shirt in D3.  I knew he had been out for most of the fall but had no idea of the severity of the issue, until this afternoon.  I'll let SAC tell people what's up, or wait until the Sentinel does its job, don't want people to think I'm speculating.

Now the notion of putting Krombeen and Overway on the floor together doesn't seem so farfetched.  FWIW, I've told told tanis has looked pretty impressive.  Maybe if he's not looking over his shoulder to see when he gets pulled, he will play to his potential this fall.  One can only hope...

I don't think he would even need a medical redshirt to play next season if he sat the year out. My understanding is that you basically get 5 years to use up 4 years of eligibility in D3. (I think Kent Raymond of Wheaton went this route?)

Really don't know what you're trying to accomplish by consistently referring to speculating.  But I think every comment you've made since June has contained some reference to this, and it just needs to end.  Most of us have long moved past this, ya know since it was 6 months ago now.

Also, I live 100 miles away now, and have for 3 going on 4 years.  Slowly but surely the contacts and conversations I had with people in Holland about Hope basketball have become fewer in frequency.  Most of the time I get in touch with people over there the conversation almost never turns to Hope basketball now.  The news about Bunn being injured was completely out of the blue for me so I really don't have much to add.

Bunn is a 2007 graduate of Lansing Christian, this is his 4th year of NCAA competition.

Maybe a 1997 graduate of Lansing Christian Kindergarten.  ;)

Kent Raymond decided before practice even began to sit out the year.  My understanding (not guaranteed to be accurate) is that if you practice with the team once the legal practice time has begun, you've used a year of eligibility UNLESS there is a medical redshirt.  If he is unable to return at all this year, a redshirt season should be a formality (assuming finances allow another year!); but if he returns later (no matter how much of the season he missed) I don't think a redshirt is allowed.  I believe they are only given if you play no more than 30% (?) of the games at the beginning of the season, then go down.
