It's great to have all of that - thanks DC, although it's really a moot point.  Hope will not lose to another MIAA team this year.

Frequently, one sees this rendered as a "mute" point, although clearly there are no mute points on this board this week.  ;D

I will admint that to be mute might have been fine advice to several posters this week  :o

I have read with interest the postings of the past week regarding integrity.  Since I'm new to this board, I would like to add a few questions on the topic of integrity, without adding the emotional charge of including either GVW or KVS!

Is integrity an all or nothing proposition?  If someone shows integrity in most situations, does that mean he or she always shows it?

Does a discussion about integrity shown (or not shown) in a particular situation have to be an attack?

It seems to me that, as a Christian, my goal has to be to show integrity in every situation, every day.  Do I succeed?  Of course not.  Does that mean I'm not a Christian?  Of course not.  Should I be held accountable by other members of my community?  Certainly.  Should my character be assassinated in a public forum, with only a small percentage of the facts known?  Absolutely not.

I have been impressed by the communal nature of this forum over the past few years.  Up until this week, I have never felt the need to make my own posting.  However, since things got rather intense this week, I'm sad to read the anger and negative postings between two Christian rivals.

DC,

You stated earlier that from the MIAA, Calvin is in the NCAA tournament regardless of the outcome of the MIAA tournament.  Is this really true?  What would happen if they lose today to Kalamazoo, and then in the first round on Wednesday?  I admit that this is rather unlikely, but would they still be included in the NCAA?

Hope certainly has a more talented team, and it seems rather odd to me that Calvin appears to have a tighter grip on the NCAA tournament than Hope.

The MIAA board has a solid hold on second place in the number of views, but we're still third in the number of replies, behind the NCAC board, which seems to have a generous supply of authors but few readers.

But we're only 42 behind now! Let's see what we can do about that....I think Hope's colors show a definite lack of respect for blue people...no...I wonder how flying oliebollen taste with HKM...um...I question the integrity of the bleachers in the cafeteria!

Kakaty will admint that as well.

MIAAfan2:

Great post!  I appreciate your Christian perspective on the bashing that was being posted.  You stated it perfectly!  If I could give you Kharma I would!

One reason I read the MIAA postings is because of the way posters have handled themselves in the past.  I hope this bashing is over and people get back on track so we all can enjoy the MIAA & NCAA tournaments.

Although Scenario 2 has one more win for Hope, including one over a top-shelf team, and is better by any rational definition of "better," Scenario 1 actually provides a higher QoWI score for Hope!  In other words, Albion's result against Olivet is more important to Hope's QoWI than Hope's own results against Tri-State and Albion combined.

Here's the math:
Scenario 1: Olivet beats Albion (+4 for Hope), Hope beats Olivet (+10), Albion beats Hope in MIAA semifinals (+7) = 21 pts/2 games, or 10.5 points
Scenario 2: Albion beats Olivet (0 for Hope), Hope beats Olivet (+8), Hope beats Albion in MIAA semifinals (+15), Calvin beats Hope in MIAA finals (+7) = 30 pts/3 games, or 10.0 points.

Crazy.

New system anyone?

Who knows what's "really true" at this point; it's all just speculation.  My speculation is that Calvin's QoWi and win % are good enough at this point to see them through.  But I suppose I could be wrong.  Calvin has just 11 regional games in the books, so any loss (especially to a mid-tier Kzoo or low-tier Alma) would have a much greater impact on Calvin's QoWI and win % than it would on someone with a more reasonable number of regional games.

But I don't expect Calvin (or Hope, or Albion) to lose today.

I've got to stop answering these questions if I want my "all talk no listen" NCAC room to stay ahead of you guys!  :D

Calvin up 3 at the half, 38-35. Sounds as if it is a similar game to the first meeting between the Hornets and Knights. K shot 58% in the first half but Calvin had too many 2nd chance points.

I have to pass on the women's score

Hope 50 St. Mary's 27

But the story is Sr. Bria Ebels....who has 20 pts...5-5 FG including 4-4 from 3 and 6-6 from the stripe.  :o

Thats some half.

The K Radio guys think Mecked should have been T'd for hanging on the rim?  Any thought from Calvin fans?
