Snoeyink did not play at Calvin, but I agree he should have.
"I started to look around at the fans and the team and I was sitting in the back, and I looked around and everybody was having a good time and that day, it truly made me realize what Michigan was about. It took me down, it humbled me. It taught me how to be a Michigan man instead of Jason Avant."

Personally I'd be a little scared to play the dutchmen right now. While they might be ranked #2 in the country, they have a lot to prove to a lot of people.

Yes they do have something to prove.

I don't know what other motivation you need either.

To whomever is suiting up against the fellows in Orange and Blue, good luck, because I think this is a team that's playing with a chip on their shoulder.

I don't know about the team but  maybe a poster or two....... 8)  ;D  :D  ;)

Thanks for putting together the fan poll, sac.  I can't argue with the results much.  I dont want to say that this conference season was cookie-cutter but it doesn't look like the results varied much from person to person.  Is it Wednesday yet?

Predictions on tonight:

Calvin over Olivet
Kzoo over Tri-State
Albion over Adrian
Hope over Alma

1-4 advance

NCAC board is kicking our butt again

They eat up a lot of space by posting plenty of in-game updates. If you want to catch up with them, I suggest that you do the same thing in here.

But don't tell them that it was my idea.  ;)

Here's an article from the Chicago Tribune about DIII Basket

http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/college/cs-060221collegedthree,1,839705,print.story?coll=cs-home-headlines

It's a great piece, but Lew Freedman is no astronomer. Earth and Pluto are far less than a light-year apart.

Still, the Trib is improving when it comes to D3 basketball. Last week the paper had a blurb about Lawrence and in it made reference to the upcoming "48-team tournament" in D3.

MIAA fans might not like the story, though. Elmhurst's Chris Martin is one of the central figures in the piece, and there's not one mention of his flopping.  :D

Keys tonight for the Hornets.....

(1) Defensive intensity from the start. In the 2nd TriState/K game (@ Kzoo) I believe TriState hit 9 or 10 threes out of 15 attempts. They were in a great rhythm and K was not effective in slowing down their transition O. Thankfully, K also shot well in the 1st half and were only down a bucket or two at the break. In the second frame K disrupted TriState's game plan and the Hornets took control.

(2) Stay within the confines of Coach RP's system. When the Hornets play within themselves and refrain from improvisation, they play very well. They struggle when guys try to make "the big play" by themselves.

(3) Spread it around. The Hornets are at their best when they have 3-4 guys contributing (K.Kon., Herman, Clancy, McCain, Kellogg).

(4) Avoid foul trouble, especially from their big men.

(5) Finally, I would like to see an angry Hornet team tonight. I want to see a determination to return to Calvin with a chip on their shoulder after last week's loss.

Maybe the "limousines" on his feet are protected with an anti-flop deterrant?

Can we count out an Olivet upset this fine evening?

Well, then it can't be much of an article, can it?   ;) :D :o

<flopper!> ;D

If I were a Knight, I'd be just a little worried about pesky Olivet.  They are just a little too unpredictable for my tastes.  Now, Calvin should handle them readily, but you just never know... :o

We can't, we go to the games!

I realize this isn't the women's b-ball board, but I thought I would mention it here.  The poor officiating hasn't been restricted to the men, at the Olivet/Albion (women's) match-up last night the officials were terrible.  They never called a moving screen all night long, Albion committted at least five.  Albion also was camping in the lane and got six seconds to inbound the ball.  I don't want to sound partisan, I simply went to the game to watch b-ball.  Despite the outcome it seemed that the officials decided who they wanted to win the game and did everything to help them.  Olivet won despite the officiating.  I spoke to the MIAA representative there about the poor job they did.
