The Centennial Conference is so concerned about missed class time it keeps teams to 24 games, forces basketball teams to start practice later than everyone else and schedules its title game on Sundays. If they can do this the MIAA certainly can.

No can do in this league

I, of course, was not suggesting the MIAA schedule its title game on Sunday. I was suggesting that if the Centennial, which cares enough about students' class time to push its title game until Sunday, can make time for a midweek tiebreaker game, so can the MIAA.

You and Scott need to get over what ever is between you. It never fails that one or the other of you is way over defensive about a comment the other makes... Bold lettering in your reply is not very graceful Pat. With all due respect, you both need to grow up or ignore each other... Geeze!!!

Brining up an alleged feud that involves reading too much into each others comments by reading too much into their comments when the alleged feud wasn't even being discussed and telling them to drop it! Classic!

Bold lettering is what makes this an issue? I bolded my reply because Scott bolded a line of my post. And to make sure nobody took it out of context, I responded.

I was very careful to make this not about anything like that. Not sure you needed to bring it up and change that.

Calling it like I've seen it for years Pat. And why I mentioned both of you. It never seems to fail that you poke at each other how ever so slightly. I find it somewhat comical, but tiring. Kiss and make up... Please.

You created something out of nothing with that one, I think. There's literally nothing to see here. I don't think those comments in any way help whatever situation may or may not exist.

Michael McClary's march up the MIAA record books comes to its conclusion this week.

For total points in the MIAA regular season, MM is sitting at 944 points.  If he hits his current avg he would fall just shy of 1,000 points.

SCORING
1. Mark Veenstra, Calvin, 73-77     1,233
2. Floyd Brady, Hope, 64-68     1,170
3. Dan Shinabarger, Hope, 68-72     1,117
4. Steve Honderd, Calvin, 89-93     1,046
5. Charles Hudson, Alma, 67-71     1,001
6. Jim VanderHill, Hope, 59-63     945
7. Michael McClary, Olivet, 08-11      944
8. Gordon Lofts, Olivet, 64-68     940
9. Willie Dawkins, Alma, 70-74     917
10. John Schelske, Kalamazoo, 75-79     895

He will pass Hope's Jim VanderHill tonight, and Charles Hudson of Alma is in his sights.  As you can see, all of these guys played a long time ago.  Michael's had the benefit of about 8 more MIAA games because of league expansion, but this is still a pretty sweet list to have your name on.

For rebounds, Michael was already in the top 6 before this season began and so far has moved up to 5th on the list.

REBOUNDING    Number
1. Floyd Brady, Hope, 64-68     648
2. Mark Veenstra, Calvin, 70-74     615
3. Gordon Lofts, Olivet, 64-68     603
4. Willie Dawkins, Alma, 70-74     551
5. Michael McClary, Olivet, 07-present*     542
6. Craig Vossekuil, Kalamazoo, 66-70     441
7. Kevin York, Kalamazoo, 73-77     412
8. Travis DePree, Albion, 01-05     397
9. David Dame, Kalamazoo, 75-76     389
10. Jeremy Veenstra, Calvin, 99-03     373

Again he's had the advantage of about 8 more games than most on this list, but he's pretty much blown away his 'modern' camparisons of Veenstra and DePree.  Neither of those guys had full 14 game MIAA seasons for 4 years but the separation is striking.

Michael will pass Willie Dawkins, Alma this week and will finish in the top 5 for rebounds.  There hasn't been anyone as good at rebounding in this league in at least 20 years probably more.

It would be pretty sweet if he could hit 1,000 points.  Quite an accomplishment.
