If Calvin should lose tonight v. Olivet, that would mean that the semi-finals and finals would be played at the highest remaining seed.  This would mean either Hope or Albion, unless all the top seeds are upset.

Do you think that Hope and Albion are ready to host this tournament if this should transpire?

Sorry about that last sentence, as it is too vague.  Hope would host if Calvin lost to Olivet, but Hope defeated Alma.  Is Hope ready to host if this is the case?

If Hope would be upset in addition to Calvin being upset, the tournament would be held at Albion.  Is Albion ready to host if this is the case?

I think either of those schools would be happy to host, and would have little trouble preparing to host this weekend.  However, what if there are 4 upsets...is Tri State ready to host??? ;D

I can't speak for Albion, but I am sure Hope would have little problem getting the Fieldhouse ready to host--it's already in host mode for the women's tournament.

Zwier is going on a combo scholarship to Craperstone. It's really too bad.

Lets just hope that Veltema doesnt go to Cstone too.

That's not a pleasant thought.  :'(
I would rather see Veltema go to any MIAA school than Cstone.

I've been to a handful of his games and have yet to see a night when both Hope and Calvin haven't been there. While there's no chance with the Dutch (they won't be able to offer the "academic" aid that Calvin/Albion could) I do think Calvin holds an edge over Cornerstone (mainly due to the loss of Draayer/Trewhella combined with the parent factor). Plus I think more of his friends are at Calvin than at Cornerstoned.

I think Matt's parents went to Calvin?

A WHAC/MIAA recruiting battle going on right now is between Cornerstone and Albion for Matt Kingshott from Zeeland West.

Matt's a fine post player, a tough and bruising kid and would be a perfect fit for the type of play we are used to seeing from Mike Turner's Albion squads. Kingshott would do well at Albion and would make Brit fans pretty happy for the next 4 years. He wouldn't make MIAA opponents so happy though.  :'(

I can see Kingshott going to Albion, mainly because of the chance to play football as well. He's a tweener in the MIAA for hoops (too small for the 5, but still too good fundamentally at the 5 to waste him at the 4) but would be a great addition to a potential MIAA champion Brits football squad...But of course, nobody thought a 6'1" 220 lb "tweener" forward by the name of Ryan Klingler could play point guard either...  ;)

When I saw Matt Kingshott play I judged him to be about in the 6'4' to 6'5" range, not overly tall for sure but with tremendous upper body strength and possessing  good footwork. Like a lot of wide bodies he plays a lot taller than his height and I think he would do well in the post at the D3 level, at either the 4 or 5 position.

Hope gives no preference is merit-based scholarships to student-athletes.  Every individual is treated equally in that regard.

Hey, it's the truth.  Not every institution is dishonest, contrary to what you seem to think.

No worries, I don't see Olivet beating Calvin tonight even with two Dozies.

.....but we'd be very gratefull here in Holland if that happened.  ;D

.........those heathen Dutchmen are at it again. ::)

Actually John, this was talked about prior to the season.......the conclusion was Hope gives FAR LESS in academic aide to student-athletes that other MIAA schools.  Shocking I know. :o

This list of players who don't come to Hope because thety didn't get enough aide is long.

Someonethat might help Albion is Mark Werley.  He is the assstant coach at Zeeland West.  He was Travis DePree's HS coach at Holland

Maybe Hope does give FAR LESS acedemic schlorships,  but they give FAR MORE "Christian Leadership" ones. Shocking I know.
"I started to look around at the fans and the team and I was sitting in the back, and I looked around and everybody was having a good time and that day, it truly made me realize what Michigan was about. It took me down, it humbled me. It taught me how to be a Michigan man instead of Jason Avant."
