A little off-topic, but Davenport makes it clear in the video labeling, that they want to "show Calvin and Hope" how trick shots are done.

BogeyMan

Dreams, I am with you on the possible interpretation there.  I do not want to be someone that leaves the interpretation that officials cost games.  They try very hard to do the best they can.  Some can handle it better than others.  There was one official on the floor last night that does not belong the MIAA period.

Sac, hang in there.  I'm with you.  In over 15 years (which is not as much as most of you) of watching MIAA basketball I have never seen a thug.  I have seen many like Kazen that just won't take anything from anybody.  He is very agressive and physical but he is not a thug.  The MIAA is a great league with great coaches and programs that do not put up with the thug attitude.  That's why we don't see it in the MIAA.  There are no thugs in the MIAA.  I hope everyone on this board understands what it takes to be a D-3 athlete.  Schools and programs at the D-3 level can not afford to have thugs representing them.  I just don't believe May or even Turner would ever put up with a thug!

I also find it interesting how many different interpretations we have on this board on the last play.  We all believe we had good look at the play and we all saw something different?  Could our interpretation be influenced by who we were rooting for?

I kind of wish there was a message board around when Colly Carlson and Mark Lodewyk used to mix it up.

That would be entertaining.

None of this is new behavior for Mr. Kazen.

If it:

looks like a duck,
walks like a duck,
talks like a duck,
acts like duck,
plays basketball like a duck...

I have to admit I just plane enjoyed this comment.  Far too many obvious fouls have not been called this year.   My definition of good officiating is to call the obvious and avoid the ticky-tacky fouls.  That has not been happening.

FYI-  if you're going to get T'd up, it had better be done for the benefit of your team, AKA- a spark.

Hope needed someone to come up with elbows out after a rebound, or set a teeth rattling screen because nothing says "we're not going to take this anymore" better than a physical imprint on a game.  Dirty?  Effective???  Albion left their prints all over the DeVos last night.

Was there not a picture on the front page of the GR Press of CC and Lodewyk in a scrum back in the day?  Carlson definitely would have put an end to Albion's antics, I mean tough play, last night.

What do I expect to see on Sat. when the Knights go down to Albion?  I expect to see two teams that are going to do everything they can to get the 2nd seed in the ournament for themselves.  Is it going to be physical? Yep, but not to the point it would qualify as dirty.  What Calvin needs to do right from the start is take the game right at the Brits, and than never take their foot off the pedal.  Hopefully Calvin has learned from the Adrian experience that bad things happen when you let the other team control the game.

That was also the era when the two college presidents had to remind their respective students and fans that it is just a game best left to the actual players on the floor.

Did Section7 delete his account?

I'm just assuming Sac is at fault and should be blamed (isn't it always Sac's fault?).  Sac probably deleted it for him  ;D ;)

I don't think the HOFers have those magical powers anymore.

So I'll still be rooting for Albion on Saturday. It would take more than that to get me to wear a Calvin sweatshirt.

So if Calvin plays Albion in the conference semifinal at DeVos, will you still be rooting for Albion?

You should know better than to ask me that!

I do have a bet with a Calvin friend: if either team wins both regular season MIAA games, the loser has to wear that team's sweatshirt for a day. In public. That is the only circumstance under which I'd wear a Calvin sweatshirt.

As to your question, at this point I'd like another shot at Albion in the DeVos.

What we haven't discussed yet are the Pool "C" implications of last night. I still think with a win on Saturday and two wins in the tourney Hope ought to be in a good position, depending on what happens in the NCAC tourney (I was surprised Wooster was still in 1st). But I'm not as confident as I was, and this could make Hope more "desperate" in the MIAA tourney if they're not confident winning it will still get them in the NCAA's.
