Nate had a fair amount of DI interest, it was he and Korey Van Dussen together on a lot of lists, but academics won out, as happens with some A2 kids.
Speaking of Korey, maybe he'd like to come back to West Michigan and play with his h.s. teammate, Nate S., and in front of family and friends his last two years?

That's only my fantasy--a guard combo of Van Dussen, Bunn, and Krombeen.

or play with overway and 4 guards? and then letting van arondonk swat away anything that gets by them on the full-game press?

Now that would be fun to watch.  As quickly as those guys could move and pass the ball around, it would be difficult for any team to stop them on the offensive side...defensively it might be a little different when they ran up against a taller squad like Augustana but it would still be a "dream" line up for the fans to watch.

Kevin Kooiker, Kendall Smith and Larry Martin were the officials for the Wooster/Whitworth game tonight.

How are these guys regarded in the MIAA?  I thought they did a pretty fair job in last night's game.  They let the both teams play which is what I always prefer as opposed to whistle happy refs.

They're pretty decent officials but there is a running joke on this board about Kooiker. A while back, KnightSlappy did an analysis of Calvin's record with respect to officials who have worked games the Knights have played. KS's summary showed that Calvin had their worst record in games officiated by Kooiker. During the conference tournament final, Calvin fans groaned and Hope fans cheered when they saw the officiating crew included Kooiker.

I know and like Kevin, having played rec league ball against him after he completed his playing career at Grand Valley where he was an excellent player.  He's a good official with a good temperment for the game but for whatever reason, Calvin struggles to win games when he's on the floor.

CU makes it to the NAIA D2 final 4.  Play #2 Northwood (FL)  Mon. at 8 p.m.
One of the other final 4 is the home team College of the Ozarks that gets automatic bid for holding the tournament.  4th team is St. Francis that beat Davenport.  Interesting idea you could buy a tournament ticket to see all the games on the Internet for 39.95.

How does that automatic bid thing work?

How does that automatic bid thing work?

NAIA sets aside a bid for a second team from the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference in order to help with attendance, most often The College of the Ozarks receives this bid.  Its not necessarily an automatic bid in the way we think of automatic bids.

This year Ozarks received a bid, but Ozarks was ranked #19 in the final poll and would have earned an at-large bid anyway.

It's kind of quirky in my opinion but this year Ozarks looks more than deserving of being in the tournament.

The state of Michigan got 3 teams into the Big Dance, but it might take at least a minor miracle to have any in the Sweet 16.  Michigan is an 8 seed, facing Tennessee - if they survive that, they face Duke.  MSU is a 10 seed, facing UCLA - if they survive that, they face Florida.  Oakland is a 13 seed, facing Texas - if they pull the big upset, they probably get Arizona.

Good luck to all three, but I'll be very surprised if we have any local rooting interests by week two.

Oakland was my "bracket buster" pick going into yesterday....but after seeing that draw they'll have a tough time.

Michigan State I think will get past UCLA, but the second round game I doubt they'll even have a chance....

I don't think Michigan will beat Tennessee, but they could pull it off, depending on how they are shooting and how Hardaway is playing...

Which Tennessee team shows up will play a big part in who wins that game as well.  The Vols have a team that could go a long way in this tournament, or could get blown out by Michigan.

In 2010 College of the Ozarks was the first round opponent of CU.  It was an easy win for CU, as the Ozarks only got in as host team.  I heard several years ago that CU was thinking about hosting, but haven't heard anything recently.  Branson is relatively close to the Ozarks so that is a big draw.

That's one of the things that makes this bracvket so hard to pick....K-State is the same way. K-State could be a Final Four team, but they could also lose to Utah State.....it makes it soooo hard
