The MIAA went 43-43 last season in the non-conference portion of the season.  20-14 in-region I think.

2005  46-38  .548
2006  52-34  .605
2007  27-51  .346
2008  34-44  .386
2009  35-46  .432
2010  38-50  .432
2011  43-43  .500

It's been trending upwards the last 4 years since the great black hole of 2007.  It would be nice to see that continue.

Trine played a big part in the league getting to .500 last year, I suspect it be a little tougher for Trine to reach 8-3 like last season.  They seemed to pull out most of the close ones early in the season.

Noah Veach, the Grand Haven High School kid who impressed last year in his freshman season at Trine, is on the Augsburg College (Minneapolis, MN) roster this year.  I believe it was hoopdreams who noted his departure from Trine, and how good Veach would look in either a Hope or Calvin uniform.  But he's taken his talents westward.

Looks like there is a pretty good chance Anderson will provide a video feed of tomorrow's game: http://www.livesportsvideo.com/golive/goliveevents.asp?q=AndersonUniversity
Both Calvin teams will be on live video stream tomorrow.  The women at Manchester at 6:00 and then the men at Anderson at 7:30.  Can connect to both of them via the Calvin website, your number one source for preferred MIAA sports.

Currently heading south. Spending the day in Indy before taking in the Calvin-Anderson game tomorrow night. Better than a video stream I suppose.

I fear another black hole for the MIAA out of conference this season.

Grab a W on your way back north tomorrow, KnightSlappy.  This one counts.

What are everyone's thoughts on the upcoming Grace Bible-Calvin game this Friday? Will GBC make it three in a row or will Calvin finally make it back into the championship game of their own tournament?

I see that Noah Veach, who was a pretty solid player last year as a freshman for the Thunder, is not on the Trine roster.

;)

Thanks for tracking down Veach's current whereabouts!

Schipper was one of the 3 officials for the Towson State/Michigan game last night.

Anyone know if he's still going to do MIAA games?

augie_superfan has a D3 rating system/website (Massey-ish) up and running for this year (read about it in the Multi Region board).

His predictor for tomorrow (mostly based on last year at this point) says Anderson by 2. He's giving 2.5 for home court, so according to his system, Calvin would have been a .5 point favorite on a neutral floor, and a 3 point favorite in Grand Rapids.

https://sites.google.com/site/d3basketballindex/nov-15-2011-predictions

He doesn't predict games against non-d3 teams.

All the best to your Vikings this season, Gregory!  Are you planning a Michigan trip this upcoming season?

Calvin women start off the season with a big win at Manchester.  C Verkaik scores 20 and hauls down 13 rebounds.  Sister Breanna seals the victory with free throws at the end.  Calvin trailed most of the game and down by nine at half but kept clawing there way back and got the W.
