Wonderful season Albion.  i really hope they have a chance to play again this winter.

Calvin ... one for ten to open the game ... ouch.

John Rusnak

What in the hell is going on with Calvin?  This is two games in a row!

DC, I think Albion still has a very legitimate chance at a pool C.  Not only are almost all of their losses to top ranked teams, but they went to the Elite 8 last year and are defintely one of the top 40 teams in the country.

Of course, it's now out of their hands and they just need to hope for no upsets tonight and tomorrow...and Sunday for those stupid conferences that play on Sunday.

David Collinge

How they did last year is not one of the selection criteria.  Albion is 12-4 in region (.750) with a QoWI of about 9.125, which is about 85th-best in the country.  Those are selection criteria, and I don't think they're going to be good enough.  It'll be hard for anyone with less than a 9.5 QoWI to get a Pool C bid.  I'd love to see Albion get in, but I don't believe it will happen.

Calvin's running away and hiding now, 66-49 inside 3 minutes to play.

Calvin and Hope will play for the conference AQ and bragging rights, but regardless of the outcome both are going to receive bids to the tournament IMO.

If Calvin and Hope win tonight, how can Calvin lose on Saturday?  All the Karma will be in their favor!  A recent trip to the Final 4 (experience!).  A freshman sticking a dagger in the heart of their Arch-Rival just a few weeks ago.  A league championship.  Home Court.  Coach of the decade at the Helm. And (according to this board), they are still the underdog!  How could any call go against them?

Talent has something to do with it.

How is Calvin in the tournament already? They are 14-1 in the region, but you can't ignore their 5 losses.  How did this team go 13-1 in the conference? They aren't that good!

Not a very pretty game from the Knights.  Nothing would fall for them in the first 8 minutes or so, good thing Kzoo couldn't pull away.  The Knights started to play in the second half bringing the lead out to about 16.  They need to put together a strong full game in order to beat Hope.

You not only can ignore their 5 losses, you are actually required to ignore four of them.  Only regional games count when using the primary criteria, and under those criteria, Calvin's 14-1 record and 10+ QoWI rating is golden.

Albion played with a lot of guts tonight.  They came out very strong, showing versatility in the offense and hitting shots early.  Albion led by four at the half, hit a three on their first possession in the second half, but a 17-0 run put momentum in Hope's favor.

The one sour note on the night for me was when senior Rick Palmer fouled out of the game with a few minutes to go.  Hope's Dew Crew went into their automaton-like "You're out" chant without giving it any thought.  That was quite unlike the Albion's game Wednesday with Adrian.  When JNok fouled out in the final minute, Albion fans stood and clapped out of respect for his career.  Oh well.

Albion is testing the Pool C bubble limits for sure.  I could see it either way.  No matter what though we will need near flawless execution by the Pool A candidates and/or the Pool C's ahead of Albion.

My money is on Hope tomorrow.

Best quote from the KVS post-game interview: "I've been waiting a long time to say this. Caleb [Veldhouse] had a good game defensively."  ;) :D

Nice touch, making the WWKVSD T-shirts maroon and gold. Maybe you should offer a batch to the Calvin bookstore.

Anyone who wants to see a Calvin-Hope game and doesn't have an inside track on tickets, this may be your one chance of the year. The MIAA playoff Calvin-Hope games often don't sell out, but if you want to be sure, the box office is open to the general public 1-5 pm tomorrow afternoon.
