Interesting. Does anyone know who is on the Berghorst all star team this year ?

Flying Dutch Fan

I don't have any information on the Berghorst team, but expect the usual assortment of former Hope, Calvin, and Grand Valley players.

Hope's new Basketball arena looks sweet, from what I have seen from the pictures.  By the way is it true that ESPN will be covering the Hope and Calvin game in January?

Flying Dutch Fan

I haven't heard anything about ESPN covering the game.  You may have seen mention of national TV coverage for the game in January, but I'm pretty sure that just refers to the annual satellite broadcast.  Every year the Saturday game betwen Hope & Calvin is broacast via satellite.  There are always 50-75 gatherings in various parts of the US and beyond of the faithful to watch the rivalry.

It should be great to see 2 of the nations best players square off next weekend?  Andy Phillips was a preseason 1st teamer for the 2nd straight year.  Chris Martin from Elmhurst is a preseason 2nd teamer.  Sounds like it should be a great game, I just hope GVW has the boys ready for round 1.

Sounds like the Dutchmen are a little banged up and still searching for their identity.

CB - I'm looking forward to seeing Andy and Chris play as well.  Quite a game for a season opener.

DIII Preseason All-Americans (from the front page):

Congrats to both Andy Phillips (1st team) and Brandon Crawford (4th team)

You heard it here first, the first game for Hope WILL NOT be at the DeVos, unless there is a miracle.

Apparently there has been a miracle  :o

Quoting Dan Theile - Holland building inspector (from an article in the Holland Sentinel)

"The fieldhouse is 99.9 percent done," Theile said. "(A temporary occupancy permit means) they still have a few things to finish up, but it won't put occupancy limits or anything like that on events in the building. They can hold a basketball game there if they want."

ESPN highlighted Calvin/Hope rivalry as one of the best rivalries.  I was thinking that coverage of the game could be picked up by ESPN or some national outlet.  I think it would be the best interest of covering the matchup, and definitely the ratings would be really high.  Who doesn't want to watch two powerhouses duke it out.  Calvin and Hope has always been a compelling matchup through the years.  Especially this year with Hope's new basketball arena, it would be nice to see some national coverage.

Couple of questions...

How many people will attend the unvailing of "The Dick" at Meet the Dutchmen tonight?  I would say there is generally a good 700 or so attendee's, I am guessing 2000 tonight?

Who will start for the Dutchmen, any of the transfers?

Immink healthy?

How bad will the Wolverines beat the Hoosiers?  I predict they need to put a real hurtin on 'em to get ready for the showdown next weekend.  Let's just hope their not looking ahead like I am  :)

See everyone tonight!!!

sac

Thats the $1000  question Berman.  I think the place is going to be pretty darn full.  First its Holland and Hope secondly (and this might be the mistake of the night) they've ADVERTISED it as FREE ADMISSION.

Thats just asking for trouble in Holland  ;D.

Should be a pretty fun evening and looking forward too it.

As to your second question, I predict a classic lloyd Carr blowout  M 31 IU 14.  Nothing fancy don't give the Bucks anything to think about.  IU will stay close for about a quarter and it will be uncomfortable at Halftime.  All systems go next week!

I think there's a chance ESPN U might do some D-III basketball games.
