Shame on you, Sac. We have TWO trophies that say 2006 MIAA Tournament Champions.

I disagree Dave.....Hope will be the #1 ranked team in the Region.

Hope was #3, Witt #4 this week, I don't believe Hope did anything to warrant losing a spot to Wittenberg.

My heart says to agree with you SAC, but I think the slightly stronger QoWI will help Witt.

Witt 20-3 (.870) 10.652
Hope 19-2 (.895 ) 10.211

What cost Hope a little in the QoWI is Elmerst losing 4 of their last 8 to finish below .667 inregion.

As long as people are talking trophies on this site, Calvin has 2 that say National Champions!!!

Yes,........yes we do.  shame, shame shame. ;)

Hey here's a little nugget............in Hope's 3 games against Calvin this year Hope has held Calvin to 55, 59 and 55 points.  I had to go way back to find a stretch of games without Calvin reaching 60.

1984 Hope 75, Calvin 51
1984 Hope 54, Calvin 49
1985 Hope 75, Calvin 49
1985 Hope 64, Calvin 49

Thats a long time ago.

Between the men and women 6,000 people watched the MIAA Tournament Finals today.

Woman 1550......seemed like more
Men 4500............seemed like more

I should point out that I didn't attempt to discover if today's results changed anyone's stratum. I just recalculated based on the QoWI thru yesterday, and the regional win % of today's opponents.  So it's possible that it's not entirely accurate.

It sure seemed like hope had more fans at the fieldhouse tonight. Especially at one point when Calvin's pep band continued to play a song during a time out that Hope's fans cheered "Let's Go Hope" to. At some point I expected the pep band to stop, but it was as if they were wearing orange and blue!

Hope sure earned that tourney trophy, sac.  I'm glad that Calvin also has a trophy for the regular season.

This is kind of like last year so far with Albion and Calvin, where the 2nd place team beats the first place team in the tourney finals at their place.  Could this mean that these two are going to be in the quarterfinals?

Not sure how things look for Calvin... we'll know for sure tomorrow night...

There are 22 teams with better QoWI than them that have finished play and are in contention for a Pool C in addition to 7 more with high QoWI that have games Sunday.

I'd like to say they are in but after not seeing the Hope womens team miss out in connsecutive seasons with 23-4 and 23-4 records... i'm not sure what to think.

The expanded tournament came a couple years late for several teams....thats for sure.....I am already certain without a doubt that I have a better chance winning the lottery, than Albion making it into the NCAA Tournament.  The decisions havent been rendered yet, and we wont know for sure until the evening, but looking at the criteria...and seeing how Albion fares, is not good at all.  Seeing 3 teams coming out of one of the best conferences for DIII basketball, would have been nice, but very unlikely.

A prediction.....Reimink from Hope will be a difference-maker Friday (and hopefully, Saturday).....Calvin and Albion both allowed Hope's bigs to shoot outside 10 feet and won because they failed to knock down shots.  (see A. Phillips' stats from both games)  Reimink can knock down shots and will force the defenses to respect inside and out.

From SAC on p 221...."the best freshman on the floor in the first half was # 10 for Hope"  (I cant do more than one quote at once :-)

Difference made....I am gloating a little, I know....Go Hope.
