It always amazes me when people say that they won't bother to point something out, and then in the same sentence do it anyway   ??? ??? ???

It's even more amazing how easily some people take offense and can't laugh at a joke.  :'( :'(

I couldn't have said it better myself (did you really think I was serious?) ::)

If you want to be understood better you might want to try and use the most appropriate yellow face. Try the "wink"  ;)  or the "tongue-in-cheek"  :P  rather than the "huh"  ???  next time.

Still 7 more to go

Augustana College (Illinois) (21-5)
Bernard M. Baruch College (23-5)
Calvin College (22-6)
Carleton College (21-6)
Carroll College (Wisconsin) (21-4)
State University College at Cortland (23-4)
Gordon College (23-4)
Illinois Wesleyan University (20-6)
Occidental College (19-5)
Randolph-Macon College (22-6)

Oxy gets in  and Albion stays home........terrible.

Exactly - there are only 10 Pool C teams listed - that means there are 8 more to come

What is up with the NCAA why release only a partial listing

Here's the rest.......probably just a delay

Trinity University (Texas) (20-6)
Tufts University (21-6)
University of Wisconsin, La Crosse (20-7)
University of Wisconsin, Stout (21-6)
Utica College (21-6)
Widener University (21-5)
College of Wooster (25-3)
York College (Pennsylvania) (24-3)

No real surprises, LaCrosse and Utica both made it, they seemed like the two on the bubble.

Sorry (but not surprised) to see Albion left out.  I was also pulling for Lakeland to get in.

3 WIAC's
3 CCIW's
2 MIAA's

I don't think there's much to complain about, but I think Albion could beat a heck of a lot of teams in this field.

How about the NESCAC only getting 2 teams Amherst and Tufts.........thats an oddity imo.

Looks like the West, Midwest and Great Lakes got just about everyone in that should should be.

Now, who gets the BYE's.  I'm sure the NCAA will release 3 of those about 8:30am and the other 2 at 9:00am :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Not many surprises:  Will be interesting to see how they bracket these teams.  Hope should get to stay home for a while, and Calvin is traveling.

Who gets the byes?  Well, they've selected three geographic orphans (i.e. no other teams within 500 miles) that almost have to get them: Puget Sound, Mississippi College, and Trinity (TX).  That just leaves two, and I'd guess they go to the two top seeds, which very probably are Lawrence and Amherst.

I am projecting that Hope will host a regional, with Wisc. Lutheran, Illinois Wesleyan, and Lake Erie, and will host a sectional if they advance.  I project that sectional to be Hope, Baldwin-Wallace, Carnegie Mellon, and York (PA).

As for Calvin, I project that they will go to Wittenberg and take on Bethany in the first round, then Witt (or Maryville MO) if they advance.  If Calvin gets through that, they'd go to a sectional most likely at Mississippi College.

But my projections are based on balancing the competition while respecting the 500-mile rule as much as possible, so I don't expect these to be correct.   :)

The general speculation on the CCIW Chat is that IWU will face the usual speed-bump from the SLIAC, then go to #1 Lawrence in the second round.

MIAA partisans might hope that that is the case (especially since Hope will almost certainly be ranked #2 this week).  Recent IWU record:

2003: 2nd round: @#2 Wash U - IWU 85-73
2004: 2nd round: @#2 Hanover - IWU 77-67
(DC- it would be totally sadistic for you to mention what happened @#4 Wooster the next round!)

We're hoping whether @#1 Lawrence or @#2 Hope - hey, we got ya right where we want ya!

I am informed that Maryville College of Tennessee is actually within 500 miles of Mississippi College (but only just.)  So what I said above is wrong.  But I still think the Chocs get a bye.

For my full bracket, if anyone is awake and/or interested, see the Daily Dose.

Calvin at Hope in Round 2. Nice to know nothing's changed since the early 90s. At least we get the game at home anyway.

I guess Witt has it worse though as their Saturday opponent will be either Carnegie Melon or Baldwin Wallace. Wooster doesn't get to host, but gets moved to the other side of the sectional so they will only see one out of Hope, Calvin, Witt, CMU, BW, which would be played in the sectional finals. Two sectionals with a pair of BYEs, one sectional with a single BYE, and of course none for the Hope/Witt sectional as there were too many teams to squeeze in.
