I've been looking at the box scores I noticed a huge disparity at the FT line for Wisc Luth and I've decided to attribute their recent success on what I'm guessing is the HACK-A-SHAQ method.

WL has committed 630 fouls todate vs opponents 567 fouls... and players have fouled out 26 times!

They have sent their opponent to the free throw line 30+ time in 11 games.

          Hope                 OPP
FT       409-592  .691   307-462  .665
Fouls  439                    528

          WL                     OPP
FT       473-669  .707    528-737  .716
Fouls   630                    567

Anyone else notice that on the D3hoops front page it says that the Women's bracket is more balanced and mentions the teams most likely to come out of each bracket. No mention of Hope at all. The girls are getting cheated left and right today.

We must rebel against the committee.

Not a big fan of Friday games. I think it is too early to play Friday night games on account of high school basketball. There are a lot of great fans and former players that coach on Friday nights. Pretty ridiculous in my mind to have the first round of teh tourny on Friday night.

The Wisconsin schools miss 1 less day of classes, and the NCAA has 1or 2 night(s) less lodging and food expenses depending on if 1 or 2 Wisconsin teams win.

A Fri/Sat is to Hope's advantage.  They should have a walkover and Cal/WI-Lac should
be a pretty physical and hard fought game.  Hope should be fresher Sat. night

I sure hope Glenn has the boys shooting lots of FTs this week. They hit them just fine against Calvin, but disgusting early FT shooting kept Albion in the game during the semis. I recall Phillips in particular looking quite off from the line this weekend. He seems to have gotten his inside touch back so hopefully he'll regain his rhythm with all his shots.

As far as shooting confidence, I've also noticed that Jeff Carlson's shot has been consistently short for about 2 weeks now. Is there any injury issue there or just another shooter whose confidence would be mighty timely if it showed up this weekend? Jeff certainly has been hustling and doing everything else while he's on the floor, but I do wonder where those 3's we could count on from him have gone.

You are probably right, however, sometimes that factor does occur.  Also, this my personal opinion obviously, but I feel that teams that get 20 wins per year (and particularly with a record like Albion had 20-6, which is certainly not like DePauw's) should make it to the playoffs.  And this is coming from a guy who is not an Albion fan at all! ;D

Once again, welcome to the NCAA committee's supposed "wisdomary" insight! ::)

I think playing at the DeVos Fieldhouse will be a HUGE advantage for Calvin's first round game.  I am sure that Maroon and Gold will be the dominant color.

That's too bad the games weren't on Thursday like last year.  Anyone know why the committee decided to do this?  This stinks....

Has anyone heard anything about Tickets for the games this weekend? I'm going to be stuck listening on the internet....but I know others that are looking for tickets.
Please let me know!

The reason the Hope women are traveling is due to NCAA policy.  When a school could potentially host both a mens' and womens' game, in even years the men are given priority, and in odd years the women are given priority.  This is to remove a potentially sticky decision from the host school.  The only hope for the women to be home was if the men were awarded one of the 5 byes, then the women could have hosted two games Friday and one each for the men and women on Saturday.  Once it became evident the men would not get a bye, this option was gone.

Why not Thursday games has been answered above.

What about Glenn Van Whiner?  From the opening tip Sat. nite he was complaining about every call.  He was stomping his feet up and down like a child a couple of times. I thought he was emotionally out of control.  I said to my brother before GVW got the T, that GVW looked like an "emotional wreck"

GVW getting T'd up for touching a player tells me he was out of control.  The only coach that I can recall ever touching a player, in the field of play, is Woody Hayes.  I'm
not saying what GVW did equals Woody's actions but,  a line was crossed that should never have been crossed.

It really is advisable that you know something about the actual situation prior to posting it.  Glenn's foot (actually his toes) were across the line as he was pointing towards the area Draayer was headed for (directing his defense).  Draayer ran right along the line, and Glenn's finger inadvertantly hit Draayer.  I think you posting that "some line was crossed" is way off base (other than the actual in-bounds line - which gets crossed by every coach in every game).  If anyone crossed the line, it's you - bringing up Woody Hayes.

Does your dad know you are posting this crap?
