It has great food and the atmosphere after say 9 or 10 might be a little harsh for those who are over 30 or married.

Dear Shareef 23,
I'm seriously offended as someone who fits the bill on both accounts.  I can bring it Old School like any other unwed twenty-something.

Signed,

Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time."

Places to go in the Roenoke-Salem metropolitan area boils down to one, Cornbeef & Hash. Honestly, the best bar I have ever been to. It has great food and the atmosphere after say 9 or 10 might be a little harsh for those who are over 30 or married. Pretty sure as well, that about all the Rochester team was there after their loss to SP.

While I agree that it's definitely the best, and only, real place in town, it just hasn't been the same since they took out the blackjack table two years ago...

oldknight - I think the style of Definace's play and the hurt Chad Kahle put on everyone in the MIAA created a mental block for a lot of us   :D

FDF--If there is anything that helps me identify with a Hopester's pain and the "game that shall not be mentioned" its the memory (or nightmare) of Defiance in 99. I feel your Dutch pain.  :'( :'( (one weeping yellow face for me and one for you).

Thanks - it's a lot easier to be in pain when you're not alone  :D

After the flurry of 3 games in 4 days, I'll be all the way through detox before 6pm Friday gets here.  Maybe I can find some 3rd grade rec league games to watch
:D :D Good luck with that... I definitely feel your pain buddy. :) Maybe some Karma will help your detox process?  ;)

York PA only costs like 8 thousand bucks to attend... I'm guessing their budget is a little smaller!  :D

This sorta reminds me of the fact that you could totally tell which teams' alumni and families had money last year based on where they were staying. The Hotel Roanoke, definitely the nicest place in town, was FULL of people wearing Calvin sweatshirts!  ;) The Holiday Inn Express, on the other hand, was full of York fans. And Comfort inn (or something like it) was the Point place to be.

I am neither over 30, or married, but I have certainly never been there. I think the whole concept of a restaruant named after corned beef still gets me.  ::) Had fun hanging out with Point fans at Mac and Bobs for the last two years... it's not much of a bar, and I personally think it's nicer in the daytime, but it was fun enough.... for some reason the Point fans tend to be in a pretty good mood in Salem.  :D

DHF - thanks for the karma!!  Maybe that - and the fact that with one more post I'll hit 800 and move up from starter to All Conference will get me through :)

Any word as to how many tickets were returned by other schools for the games at Hope and how many will be available at 10:00 am Friday morning?

According to Mr. Renner on the radio this morning - they won't know until sometime late Thursday.  He said your best bet would be to listen to his report on WHTC at 7:17 on Friday morning - of course you might also want to be in line by then.

800 posts and I made All Conference   ;D ;D ;D

Oldknight;  John's point may very well have been that Calvin didn't advance to play SP last year.
Also that 99 loss to Defiance is probably the spark that ignited the fire under Calvin in 00.  No doubt the loss in 95 was a real spark to Hope in 96.  Calvin had some very hungry/focused players in 99/00, and their draft in 99 was decent!!
I won't have a problem pulling for Hope except against Calvin.  I have always done that for MIAA teams, except for Defiance.  They (Defiance) and MIAA had already essentailly parted company so to let them represent the MIAA while probably kosher did nothing for the MIAA.

..............so an extra Hope-Calvin game was played essentially just for the heck of it in a game which they wouldn't bother playing today.

Suuuuuuurrrrreeee......just for the "heck of it".   I bet no one in orange and blue or maroon and gold cared at all. ;)

By the way I think all Hope fans need a sports psychologist this time of year.

Maybe Dr. Meyers is willing to expand his field? ;D

I can't even believe people are discussing Salem, we don't even know who's playing Saturday yet.

realist

Sac:  Good catch on that one (just for the heck of it).  Most of us realize that a marble game between Calvin at Hope at 3 in the morning during a blizzard is going to attract a few of the crazies from both sides!!

Congrats, FDF -- I'll try to put my jealousy aside! ::)

Definitely some sort of psychologist -- just to help with the withdrawl symptoms of the week!
