Can't we double check the grades of the Tommies players and look for ineligible players? I do not want this season to end.

Let's bring in some quality recruits for the point and the wing, and I'll be excited about next season.
Congrats to Powell for breaking through the 1,000-point mark for his career tonight in a memorable way.

Hats off to Calvin for some scrappy play. Caused 15 turnovers - many of which came from crafty play.

A great season for Calvin and absolutely proud of this group of players.  Took the #1 team to the wire on their home floor.  The Knights are a talented team, well coached and one of the very best teams in the country.  A lot of height returning next year.  Really missed Rietema's usual minutes with his good ball handling and assists.  Probably the difference in this one.

Wowwie, incredible game tonight. Possibly the best I have seen at any level and I am really proud of what the guys did this season.

I think Calvin may have been the best team in the great lakes region this year.  ::)

very nice season Calvin.  Heartbeaker.
Agreed, it would have been a nice boost to leave St Paul headed to Salem, but a loss to a number 1 rank team, by one. :'( I loved to see this team progress to a point where they are now after a 13-13 record last year. Let's hope they come out next year ready to play there game.

Since Wooster lost, we won't even be able to compare the score between STU/Calvin and STU/Wooster.

I was really hoping we could have played one of the higher ranked teams (in GL) in the tournament.

Today Dave Rietema showed something that athletes like Derek Jeter or Kareem Abdul Jabar couldn't do. He played through extreme pain. Even though he played limited minutes he still showed guts and a passion for the game.

Bryan Powell with the game of his life, pouring in 31 points.

Quite right, but ya know what? A great game with all those points and all Bryan is going to remember for quite some time is the last shot he took in his college career. It will sting for awhile but will eventually become an oddly cherished memory.

an oddly cherished memory.

I'll remember the dunk!

Actually, he'll have some pretty great memories from the first Calvin-Hope game this year, too.

Calvin's placement in the rankings was my greatest point of contention with this years rankings  which were so awful they weren't really worth looking at or fighting about.  Calvin was hands down the best team in the region, there were no "higher ranked" GL teams to play in my opinion.

After watching 2 former MIAA refs do the Big Ten Tournament this weekend I now completely understand what I've been watching for the last 20 years of my basketball watching life.

SUMMIT!!!!!

I tip my hat to Calvin- their fans who made the long trek to St Paul were loud, positive and classy. The team is well  coached and talented. The players left it all on the court- it was a hard fought, intense, incredibly played ball game, easily the best display of basketball I've seen in 30+ years of following UST (not STU) athletics. It truly was a pity this wasnt the national championship game because there is no way to top it for drama, great ball and an amazing performance by both teams. Calvin was everything advertised plus one hell of a fierce competitiveness. Powell was lethal, luckly we had DeBerg matching him.  Neither team lost, just one had fewer points.

A great game to watch tonight.  Calvin goes down 15 early in the second half and makes a great comeback against the # 1 team in the country.  Bryan Powell with his best game in a Calvin uniform.
It was a great atmosphere tonight.  The Calvin fans showed up in strong numbers.

Calvin missed Rietema's defense and ballhandling.  He clearly was not at 100%.

A great season comes to a tough end.

Tough loss to take last night.  I was scolded via pm a few weeks ago by someone who thought Tom Snikkers was Calvin's MVP.  I mentioned that as good as he is, there were two others that I'd have a hard time not putting ahead of him.  Those were Bryan Powell and David Rietema.  Calvin missed a healthy and effective Rietema and Bryan Powell is the guy who needed to take that shot.  And that there wasn't even a play set up for anyone but Powell shows KVS thought so too.  Still can't believe he missed that.

Well, I guess its on to watching my Cubs for a while.
