OT:  You won't find anything in the media announcing this as public knowledge, but Davenport University will be getting a football team.

Hope's varsity roster is up:

http://athletics.hope.edu/sports/mbkb/2013-14/roster

I count three freshmen, and I don't see Wittenbach listed here.
Is 5-9 senior Cody Campbell a transfer, or was he in the Hope program last year?

Only 13 names. Is that the usual for Hope?

There's 14 there now, still no Wittenbach.

The 14th spot is Chad Carlson redux, the little lefty from Rockford, and the fourth freshman to make this year's squad.  At 5-7, he will not not help Hope in the height department, but he was a fine high school player who was also recruited by Calvin.

Considering their D2 ambitions that isn't surprising.

Better be able to make a few dunks during midnight madness or else you just better pack it in for the season.

Being a Freshmen on Hope's varsity isn't as rare as it used to be but at no point in the past 21 seasons has Hope carried 8 Freshmen over a two year period.

2014  Blackledge, Brushwyler, Carlson, Stuive
2013  Benson, Gardner, Eidsen, Denham

Can't you hear Dicky V declaring this group a bouncing bevy of Diaper Dutch Dandies?

Here's a good trivia for you.  Name the last Hope varsity player from Ohio.  I do not know that answer since I believe it pre-dates my fandom.
Sac.  How long has it been since Hope has not had a kid from one of the Christian schools on either the v or jv roster?

Walter Lutheran, Bishop McNamera, Detroit Catholic Central and Cabrini are all parochial schools.

Walther Lutheran used to be a part of the now dissolved Private School League that featured Chicago Christian, Illiana and Timothy Christian. Bishop McNamara is more known for their football and track prowess but still has produced some good hoopers in the past.

Only Catholic schools are called "parochial schools", because the word parochial is the adjectival form of "parish", and, aside from the Episcopal Church, American Protestant denominations do not have parishes as geographic and administrative units.
