Checking the big board I didn't see anything that surprised me.  Wooster is still alive, but if history repeats itself there should be an upset yet tonight.

How about Maryville (TN) 83, Trinity (TX) 64?  That's an upset in my book, but my book is not much better than a dime-store romance.

Trinity (TX) made the Elite Eight last season and gave UWSP its toughest challenge of the tournament, losing to the eventual champion Pointers by only six.

I still expect Hope to come out and really burn the nets.  Calvin has played better than they did tonight, and it sounded like WLAX had a problem with the crowd.  Have to love those home games, but wait it was a road win for Calvin.  Seriously, let me be the first to thank all the Hope fans who pulled for Calvin.  Now the hard part.  Cheering for the blue and orange.    Well a deal is a deal.

An amazing season for Calvin is extended by one more day.  Tim VanDyke said something during the interview with Doug Wentworth to the effect that KVS has only had three teams at Calvin (in his career?) with 20 wins or better.  I imagine seeing this year's team top 20 must be a shock even to the old ball coach.  Kudos to this group of kids who have done what many, many Calvin fans thought impossible.  I'd love to beat Hope tomorrow, but if the Knights fall I for one will still be amazed by a 23-win season that included a 13-1 title-winning MIAA campaign.  Unreal.  Tough end for the Calvin women but they have just one senior.  Oh, and Calvin hockey lost 4-3 to Northwood who advances to the title game tomorrow against Wright State (which beat Hope in the quarters).  Calvin plays tomorrow for the bronze.

I've never actually seen Trinity (TX) play, but from what I understand they play a brand of ball that's radically different from that played by the McMurry squad that Winkle, Veenstra & Co. demolished back in 2000. McMurry was (and still is) a run-and-gun, full-court-press team that goes twelve or thirteen players deep, whereas the Tigers play a much more traditional style of ball that midwestern D3 fans would easily recognize. Or so I've been told.

Kcrest:  Yes, this definitely has been one heck of a season for the Knights.  It is one thing to win when you are expected to do it, but quite another when everyone is realistically expecting you to finsih 3rd or 4th in the MIAA.  Didn't that happen last year?

I've never got even the teensiest impression that Trinity TX is an undisciplined team. Heck, didn't I see them beat a young IWU squad in Chicago a few years ago?  

You can't group a whole state of teams together... that's just silly.

Diehard;  The team Calvin played was undisciplined.  Sorry, I did not intend to imply that Trinity TX. also plays that way.  How do you explain that score?
