They got a minor fact wrong in that article. They reference the game where GVW makes contact with an Andy Draayer 3 point attempt as being in 2005, but I am positive that was in 2006.

It was the MIAA Championship game for the 2005-06 season.

It was the rare 5 point play, but Calvin never was really in that game.

One week later, with Calvin down by 2 with about 15 seconds left in a 2nd Round NCAA Tournament game, Caleb Veldhouse was whistled for an offensive foul when a strong gust of wind blew Greg Immink over.

To be fair, I can think of a way a strong gust of wind would be offensive.

One wag--not nearly as old as he is now--saw it this way at the time.

General question.........was the foul on Caleb a charge or pushing off with the elbow

The ref may have made a charging signal but it was really for his lead with the forearm--something Caleb often does. If the call had been made midway through the first half it probably wouldn't have gotten much notice but when it's made with less than 20 seconds and with the game on the line it's bound to. It was a close call no matter how the ref called it. He could have chosen to eat the whistle but he chose to whistle it. That's one of the breaks of the game you just have to accept and deal with. If he had chosen not to blow the whistle and had Calvin scored and then gone on to win, Hope fans would be playing the "what if" game. As I posted earlier, Immink sold the call well by taking the contact and then reacting in a way that made the ref take notice.

"Yeah, last night"

Its why dude tries not to talk to refs anymore.

Hope 27  Albion 25  halftime

Hope looks like a team that got its butt kicked Saturday, very little life.  Students apparently have better things to do tonight.   Hope 0-8 from 3, and 4 point blank misses not helping.

Key block call on Benson that was putting it lightly, awful, would have been Herron's 3rd, instead Blackledge, Benson, Herron and Elliot all have 2 in the game.
