Greg. S:  If you followed the converstion oldknight should have used "was" instead of "is" a football player first. :)  Probably made the mistake innocently.  We all get in a hurry to post, and don't proof read.

You're right, I hadn't properly proofed and that was after I checked the LaCrosse football page and saw Werner was not on last season's roster. I've got to believe he would be an impact player in D3 football and I'm sure the football coach was not too thrilled to lose Werner to the BB team.

Let me tell ya, you have to watch out for little girls.  Somewhere around the age of 4 they learn how to manipulate us male adults.........something they clearly spend the next 15 years of their lives mastering.

Let me tell you sac, for some of us we've witnessed this a lot longer than 15 years.

Agreed, and going by what I've seen from my nieces, it starts earlier than age four.  ;)

Anyway, about a year ago I witnessed one of the all-time greatest "father in my pocket" moves from my niece.  She spent a good 10 minutes crying and explaining to my brother how she just had to do whatever it was she had to do.  Oh man the tears were flowing........uncle Sac felt a little bad for her as my bro held his ground.

Finally I think he gave up and allowed her to do whatever it was she wanted to do.................thats when she turned around and I witnessed the most devious smile in human history. :o

Think about how difficult it can be with twins.  My brother's girls are just getting to that age.

Plus he has a built in obstacle in his Hope grad wife.....

I think you are thinking about 91 not 92
Quote

I stand corrected, OldKnight and Dren.  It was '91 that defines my most painful memory (Eric Elliott's last game, after a dominating season . . . and a parallel situation to tonight's game):

1991 Calvin 89, Hope 84 (ot) (Second Round)

BTW, I'd give you both karma, if I had any to give, for your excellent posts this season (along with those by a number of other Calvin, Hope, Albion, Adrian, and Kazoo fans).

My condolences. ;) :D :( :o :P :-[ :'(

Thanks for the thoughts.

But, I'll be able to put a little dig at her today.  My wife is giving the girls those little pon-poms the Alumni were giving out at the Homecoming game.  It'll be neat to see those cuties waving Calvin colors.   ;D

I'm calling it a day... I'm done posting and reading for today...

On my way out I'm giving everyone karma.

A couple of other thoughts from last night.

I was expecting more from the Wisconsin teams. I expected Hope to win by a comfortable margin but 42 points? That's embarrassing. I also thought that if these teams are representative of play across the lake then we play a lot better defense in the MIAA than they do. It seemed to me the main reason is because the team concept on defense is stronger with MIAA teams than what we saw displayed by the cheeseheads last night. The Wisconsin teams play hard enough as individual defenders, it just seemed that when Calvin and Hope ran their offenses for about 20 seconds that defensive breakdowns occurred with regularity leading to open looks, something that happens with far less frequency in our conference.

I agree with what you said about Calvin and Hope having a lot of success running deep into the shot clock agains the Wisco defense.  The opposite was true on the other end of the court.  LaX was only (slightly) in the game because of possesions when they moved the ball around quickly and took the first open three.  To their credit, they hit a lot of them.  If they had to work deeper into the clock their chances of scoring went down dramatically.

Canigliaro was the only reason UWL was close, that and their 8-0 start.

You'll be happy to know the Hope cheerleading crew kept both feet on the floor last night.

As a Calvinite you should be familiar with having to keep both feet on the floor. ;D

hmmm....too vague?  We'll see how many people get that.

Come on, this isn't Bob Jones University.  As long as the door is free swinging, everything is A-OK!

Actually, watching with only half interest I did see one illegal stunt.  I'll be notifyin the NCAA immediately

Sac,

Got your comment about keeping both feet on the floor. I should get at least 1 positive Karma point for that!
