From the Wittenberg website.........ooops ;D

The Tigers, North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament champions for a second straight year, are ranked third in the nation by d3hoops.com with a 27-3 overall record. Hope, the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association regular season and tournament champions, are ranked second nationally with a 28-2 overall record.
Wow, history got re-written quick.  I'm sure someone from Hope will write Witt and tell them they properly need to credit a 13-1 Calvin season!   ;D

I sent an email to Witt's SID.  I'm sure he will take care of it.

Thanks.  Too early to be giving away regular-season titles.   ;D  I envy Hope fans.  That trip to Springfield was always a lot of fun.  Plus for a while there Witt was the coaching springboard from D3 to D1.  It was cool to play a Larry Hunter team and then see him on the D1 sidelines a year or two later.  Last I hear he was at NC State.  The guys after Larry made the jump too if I recall.  Anyhow good memories for me of Springfield and the Witt campus.

Larry is the head coach at Western Carolina.

There's a sharp twinge of envy here, too, kcrest -- and a very fond memory of a triumphant March weekend in Springfield in 1992.
Of course, I wish we were making the trip to Wittenberg on Friday, but this may well be Hope's year to get back to the Final Four -- and even get that elusive banner to hang in the DeVos.
Hey, 23-7 ... and an MIAA championship ... and a couple of NCAA tourney games is far more than ANY Calvin fans dared to expect out of this team back in November.  It was a surprising and really fun ride -- and KVS's best coaching performance during his 10 years with Calvin, IMO.
I like what he's doing -- and if he can somehow convince a couple of his top recruits to spurn the C'stone money and come to Calvin, well, I think we'll be making a deeper run in the NCAA tournament in the next few years.
In the meantime, Hopesters, enjoy the opportunity.  You've got a great chance to snag the walnut and bronze.

No one in orange was looking forward to 3 more years of him to begin with, but hopefully he doesn't turn that finish into some career-making performances against us.

It is never too late to get him transfered down the east beltline  ;)

dren; that was the cruelest, most insensitive post in MIAA chat board history.  :( :o :'(
A dagger to my oldknight heart. I don't know if I'll ever recover. ;)

SAC, you're thinking of Ced Dempsey who led the NCAA up until 2003. Myles Brand is not an Albion grad, rather got his degree from RPI. That being said, if the NCAA is going to award a sectional to Albion and Kresge, than you know they're aren't exactly worried about attendance.

I should read the paper more often.  :-[

----On Witts coaches, Dan Hipsher coached Witt for about 4 years in the early 90's before Brown.  He left to coach at Akron for about 9 years.  He's now an assistant at Arkansas.

Speaking of recruits, anyone notice any at the game and where they were sitting?  Just wondering. . .

Do Hope students have to promise to be Amway distributors?

Yes.  It is really what they are best suited for, anyway.

Matt Veltema was talking to Davelaar after the game.

A couple more Witt coaches that went on to D1, Bob Hamilton who went on to coach at Navy and  Eldon Miller that went on to coach at Ohio State.

If there were recruits there it has to be on their own dime. Coaches are not allowed to give them tickets to NCAA as they are extremly limited to what coaches can give. I believe only for family purposes. I could be wrong, but that's what I heard.
"I started to look around at the fans and the team and I was sitting in the back, and I looked around and everybody was having a good time and that day, it truly made me realize what Michigan was about. It took me down, it humbled me. It taught me how to be a Michigan man instead of Jason Avant."

Anyone who leaves a program and lies about the reasons he did it has no place at any program I root for. So that wasn't a dagger. I don't want kids, who do that type of thing. I mean I don't see Calvin or Hope for that matter jumping all over Brandon Voorhees. Good ridence, even if it costs Calvin some wins. C'stone has won nothing since they started these shady practices. In fact, it has brought them nothing, but trouble.

Shareef23,

Thanks for the great post. I actually don't blame him for the decision, because he was working 3 jobs at one time to survive. However, you are so right it was done very sneakily & dishonestly, and certainly not setting any type of Christian example to follow.

Shareef23

knightmoves, there were other things involved as well. The whole job thing was well. He was working for a construction company, I believe. I have no idea how it's possible to do that and work two other jobs. I mean I not saying he's lying about it, but this is the kid, who transfer to Tri-Unity from Grandville, because he was supposedly to short to make the freshman team. Once again not saying it's a lie, but seems pretty wierd to me. But then again Grandville isn't really the best program when it comes to hoops.  ;)

jumping all over Brandon Voorhees.

I saw Voorhees stocking shelves in the snack aisle at Meijers a couple months ago.

HAHA....   ;D

My new goal is to keep my karma as close to zero as possible.  Life is about balance and keeping the good even with the bad.  I don't want it rising to high ... might ruin my rep. :P  But on the same hand I don't want it too low to ruin my credabilty.

I used to see Brent Voorhees at Family Fare doing the same thing. I believe their family has some connection with some company that supplies to most grocery stores in West Michigan. Another note on Brandon, I was at the Covanant-Tri-Unity game at The Box and noted that Brandon was on crutches. Didn't get the chance to talk to him as he was on under the opposite basket, but figured some of you would like to know.
