Hope did not play Grace Bible this year, but did play Andrews.  In my opinion much worse

From my understanding, that was a favor from GVW to Andrews based on a request from their coach.

Ok, Let's get our opinions on this.  If Hope plays in the Final Four and maybe even wins the whole tournament, does Coach Van Wieren call it quits?

I say he steps down, but doesn't call it quits. He will be part of Hope Basketball for a long, LONG time.

Witt does seem to get the nod more often than not.

Here's something for you internet gurus to look up in your spare time. How often has Wittenberg played in a sectional, how many times have they played a sectional in the State of Ohio, and how many of those were in their own gym?

found a great site for info on the Division III basketball championship history.  If you already know of this, it will at least be helpful to new people on the boards.  I was just googling around to see where some former players might be now and I stumbled on this.

It seems that the host of the 2000 Division III finals put up the history of the Division III tourney from 1975-98.  It wouldn't be too hard to put the rest of it together because the newer years' results are available online at various places.

It has the results of all games played in each year's tournaments up through 1997.  There is less info on 1998.

shot in the dark,

If Hope wins on Friday night, is there anyone else out there in the St. Louis Mo area who would be interested in driving over to Witt to see Saturday's game?
Private message me and maybe we can hook up  -  I'm willing to drive  - drive back after game getting home late.
Best to private message me.
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Sac, it's really a stop on the way to VIRGINIA!

I am actually thinking of wearing shorts down there.  A t-shirt definitely, but I'm still weighing the shorts.  From what I hear people are pretty confident that it will be raining, so it might not be quite as glorious as Salem will be the following weekend.

Did anyone else catch GVW on WOOD TV8 Sports Overtime last night? They started by showing highlights of all theh Calvin-Hope games this year and then interviews GVW. As a Calvin fan, I don't GVW personally, but he really comes off as a great guy on TV. I know some people put on a show for stuff like this, but he seemed pretty earnest. He started by talking about how great it is to be at Hope and that it was his calling. It was pretty neat. They asked him about how much a NC would mean. He said the goal is always to win, but it's more about those guys coming back in twenty year being a husband or father and you know. It was a good answer. They showed highlights about half of the time he was talking. Two things from those, Stephen Cramer's dunk against Albion ya WOW! The other was Immink reverse Sat. night. Seriously, I was on the other end of the gym when it happean and their camera angle made it look Jordanesche. It was pretty amazing!

Positive karma earned for a Calvin fan applauding a Hope moment. It's that easy, folks!

Clearly I need to see a replay of that Cramer dunk on Albion too, based on his comments. I remember it being exciting that he found a dunk in traffic, where he usually saves that for when he has a wide open breakaway, but I didn't recall it being quite as awesome as I've been hearing since. Did he dunk right in someone's face, or was it just impressive with the elevation without a running start? I must not have paid as much attention as I should have.

I believe it was more impressive because he dunked right over Brandon Crawford (MIAA MVP), the exclamation point being that the ball shot through the net and hit BC as it came down.  An in-your-face dunk.

Cramer's dunk was just a nice one-handed emphatic dunk with the facial expression to match.  Very good air. I'd have to see the replay to know for sure if it was a dunk over BC as much as BC rotating but quitting when Cramer got airborne.  I though Cramer had a pretty clear lane to the basket.  Either way, it was definitely one of the top 5 dunks I've seen in the MIAA.

My absolute favorite actually occurred in a JV game last year, when Champine dunked two-handed over two Hope players.
