I don't think anyone really has a clue on Veltema right now. I'm sure we'll know more after Calvin's season ends. My guess is that Cornerstone has offered a half-ride or whatever it is they give. And people will telll you that his mom went to Calvin, not that it means anything. I guess aljr saw him at the Calvin-Hope game last Sat. talking with Davelaar.

A lot of schools offer grants to siblings and children of alumnus. I bet it isnt much, but it has to be more aid than Hope offers me (none).

GVW is exactly like he is on TV......he will remember your name forever and use it every time he sees you!! I will tell you why kids he recruited (and didnt get) like VanSolkema/VanderHeide/Hare come back and play for him.....he genuinely cares about them and they know it!!!

Also, the best move of the Calvin/Hope game was the Cramer layin 1 on 3 in the first half, somehow he avoided a charge and laid it over the front rim in traffic, phenomenal move! Glad he is back next year....

Glad everyone picked up on my comment on Douma. Calvin after some initial rough water doesn't appear to have missed a beat, and some would argue is better with KVS than under Eddie. So be careful what you wish for in thinking about GVW retiring.
No school at any level gets everyone they try to recruit. What is somewhat disappointing to some of us D3 fans is how the "mystic" of getting an atlethic scholarship seems to be turning the heads of some young men who would be better off playing at Calvin, Hope, Albion etc. Would you rather play regulary/start at a one of the above schools or ride the pine @ GVSU? Historically Calvin has done very well against NAIA schools, even D2 schools. Recent history has taought us the ethics invovled at "win at any cost" programs. Yes, it does cost more to attend an MIAA school, but for what you get in return amoritized over the rest of your life it is a fantastic bargin.

Not sure if I'll get another chance to post before Friday, so I'll get my prediction down now. Should be a memorable battle down in that state to the south of us. I have to stick with the MIAA and pick Hope, but I've got my doubts. Wittenberg has a fine team and the home floor, a scary combination. How about Hope by 2?

My real concern for the winner of the Hope/Witt game is the Saturday Sectional Final. The Friday game could well be such a tough, draining affair that the winner might not have enough juice for Saturday's game. I hope I'm wrong.

mmhmm, and you thought I was just a hater. I guess there is a reason the handbook addresses this issue. Maybe this is the impetus for places like Hope to monitor things that they should according to the NCAA championship handbook.
