I don't recall Olivet's schedule being posted previously.  Apologies if so.

I count 12 non-conference games and 2 exhibitions, that's one non-conference game too many  ???

This is actually a pretty good schedule. Maybe it's that fact that they're playing more than the allowable number of games.

My impression is that scheduling in the MIAA has gotten a lot better in recent years. I wonder if this is a concerted effort.

Yes I think so, a lot of good 2 day tournaments and classics have helped.  Off the top of my head Hope-Olivet, Trine-Kzoo, Albion-Trine, Alma-Calvin, Adrian-Kzoo have all partnered for some kind of weekend series.  Further schools that host tournaments and those far afield like the d3hoops.com tourny in Vegas have been very good at scheduling regional games.    It has also helped that most of the top programs around the country seem to have warmed to the idea playing other top programs is a benefit to them.

Changing to the 500-mile rule was really the trump card everyone needed, that has helped fill in some schedules nicely.

I really logged in at this time of morning to respond to a rumor about an Olivet basketball transfer, but I now see that has been deleted.

1.  It's actually pretty plausible/not likely
2.  If true.......hoo boy, on so many levels

I have less than 5% faith in this rumor, but it would be fun.

Sorry SAC. I deleted my rumor post because I just felt it was something that needed to stay private for now. Plus it seemed so ridiculous that I didn't want others thinking I was crazy. But yes like you said, it's mostly a long shot but if the transfer happens... :o  :o

Does raise an interesting question though... Just how much would one D1 caliber player change a below average D3 team (went 9-16 last season and basically everyone other than Terry and Tsalkitzis)?

I would like to see this happen just to find out because I'm not sure there is a good example to draw on. We've seen D1 transfers to the D3 level, even in the MIAA, before but I can't think of one that went high major or had this high of a recruiting profile coming out of high school.

There was Sydney Moss transferring from Florida to Thomas More on the women's side but they were already a really good program. Then there is kind of the situation in reverse with Duncan Robinson going from Williams, where he was a high-impact player as a freshman, to Michigan but that's a really good program too.

Richaud Pack - came "down" to Adrian from FIU, played part of a season at Adrian, then went on to NC A&T for a couple years - and then played his final year as a starter for B1G Maryland in 14-15.  Not the same potential impact as a player as this rumored one, but very similar in a way.

Richaud Pack was only a 2-star recruit out of high school even as the state's leading scorer.   Nate VanArondonk was also a 2-star.

Olivet has to drop one of its games in Florida, unknown at this time,  St. Mary's, Simpson or Husson

gordonmann

That could be problematic if that event is built with the assumption that each team plays three times. Presumably the Comets' opponent needs the game to fill out their schedule.

Dave 'd-mac' McHugh

Per the schedule, Olivet is only playing TWO games in Florida. One of the other games was added by their opponent (not sure who). Due to the fact I think all of them use Presto, this happens from time to time (even on our site). For reasons I am not in a position to comment on, it won't be fixed for a little bit of time, however it will be adjusted before the academic year starts. Olivet will be in Florida, but not playing all three of those games. So.. no problem with their schedule numbers wise.

per Olivet twitter

John McAdoo 6-4 G/F    East Lansing High School will attend Olivet

McAdoo is either a 2012 or 2013 grad, he played at Hillsborough CC in Florida recently.  3rd OC transfer that graduated high school in 2013 or earlier I believe.  This is also not the "big news" transfer name I heard referenced from a couple days ago.  Nothing new on that.
