Less than one week to start of practice.  Should be a interesting season, Olivet looks very athletic by their twitter pics.  I expect this board to heat up sometime next week.

Is athleticism evident in a photo? I suppose a picture snapped at the apex of a vertical jump would be an indication, but doesn't really strike me as an identifiable attribute through a picture.

Yes they look athletic and by their twitter pics, they are suggesting they are athletic.  They have one with a player looking to do a windmill dunk and the homecoming one that says "speed kills" directed toward Hope and probably the rest of the miaa.    Another one talking about welcoming Jalen Adams as a High Flyer.  I don't olivet is going to walk the ball down the court!

Hope started/starts practice today.

Players who can return and to my knowledge have:

Dante Hawkins Sr.
Luke Dreyer  Sr.
Jason Beckman  Sr.(Jr.?)  --dnp last season

Teddy Ray  Jr.
Jeff Goral  Jr.
Robert McGivney Jr.
Dennis Towns  Jr.

Riley Lewis So.

At least 7 open roster spots for last years JV guys and Fr.   I was pretty unfamiliar with last years JV so I'm willing to listen to potential JV guys, Matt Zandstra, Ben Ritsema, Jack Thompson ??

As for Freshman, I believe Hope has 24 this year but making a good assessment of their talents and who is varsity ready is really tricky.  For the first time that I can remember Hope has more out of state Fr. than instate.  By my count 13 with 7 states represented.

Given the current roster makeup I might expect to see Preston Granger 6-6 F from Lansing Christian and maybe Ryan Gamm 6-8 C from Rockford.  After that its really kind of a guess.

Refresh my memory, was Riley Lewis injured last year and granted a medical redshirt or is listing him as a freshman again just a mistype?

Sac informed me (and I confirmed with another) that Pete Smith transferred to Trine to play with his younger brother, Joe.

As reportedly did Tom Morrison (transfer, that is), Pete's HS teammate and Hope JVer last year...however, Tom's destination seems to be a tad farther from home, in the form of a new maroon-and-gold-tinged East Beltline zip code.

Doubtless, he'd get more playing time at Calvin were he to change his name to Van Morrison.

Doubtless following the Brown Eyed Girl to the Calvin Campus.

Ahh, so there was some Calvin recruiting in Indiana.  Good to hear.

2017-2018 Trine University MBB roster is up.  Talk about turnover!!  11 new additions, only 5 returners from last year....AND ZERO STARTERS RETURNING.

No Kyle Dodson, what??   No Ellis Cummings, huh??  Jordan Kreglow, nope.  We do have 6th and 7th men Myles Copeland and Langston Johnson returning, who no doubt will slide into the starting 5.

Some new names not previously mentioned in other posts, we knew about Pete Smith from Hope, but Brown, Hunter, Damon, and Warrick all transfers not talked about.  I've indicated where they were last year.  Hunter was a part time starter at Heidelberg as a freshman.  Brown is a nice addition, watched him play in HS.  Only recruit that was talked about in prior posts not on the initial roster is the DeHahn kid from Lafayette.

Could be a long year for the boys in blue.  Hey, at least we have the new barn to look forward to in January!!
