Doctor Lucifer

The Good Doctor heard that Hope is getting yet another transfer-and he is not talking about Wolfe or VanderHeide

sac

My uneducated guess is Zoerhoff will be on the Calvin varsity this season.  How much he plays is up in the air.  He was a 3 sport athlete at Holland Christian.  If Mickey Phelps thinks he can play than we should believe him.

He also must be tough....starting QB for a newish high school football program that took some serious lumps.

Docter, Docter....give me the news.......  (I'll stop there).  I have an unofficial transfer total of 4, the other two are from NAIA and smaller than NAIA schools.  Is this a different transfer?

devossed

Yes, Good Doctor, Hope is getting 4 altogether...Stoke the flames a little for us while you're down there: My air conditioner is running a little too well...

Nice little pub' on the front page for the Dutchmen.

Thanks webmaster('s).

The DeVos looks sweet. If only the right orange and blue team played there. http://discus.d3hoops.com/discus/clipart/biggrin.gif" border=0>

I was being random and looking at D3 school sites today, and I just wanted to say that construction seems to be going really well.

I'm a little surprised from the that way it looks in the pics that it seats as many as it's supposed to. Is there another tier of seats above the ones that are currently there? Or has it been so long since the season ended that I just don't remember what big d3 basketball arenas look like? http://discus.d3hoops.com/discus/clipart/sad.gif" ALT=":-(" BORDER=0>

I hope I get to see it in person in December!

I'm a CCIW follower who just returned from a trip to Silver Lake, Michigan, complete with a dune ride courtesy of Mac Wood, breakfast buffet in Pentwater, fantastic pizza in Hart, a drive in at Dog 'N Suds in Whitehall/Montague, and some of the clearest skies/best star-gazing I've seen in a long time.  Western Michigan has got to be one of the prettiest areas in the Midwest. On our one overcast day, we went into Holland and I dragged my family over to see the new arena Hope is building.  Very impressive from the outside, which is as close as we could get.  Set up on a hill, you feel as if you are approaching something of significance.  I can't wait for my first opportunity to see a game there....hopefully (pun noted but not intended) that first weekend of December!

hopefan

a hill?  in Holland???   must be man made, or they put the new facility on a sand dune...  well, I'll be visiting next week to see for myself.
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Pete---June, July and August is the reason we idiots choose to live here.   The "northern" West Coast of Michigan is in my humble opinion the best kept travel secret in the Midwest, possibly the country.  If you love beaches and clear blue water of course.

Side note, I saw a gentleman wearing an IWU shirt on the Holland pier last night...small world.  If it wasn't for this sight I wouldn't have thought twice about it.

Hopefan--You'll notice that the arena floor is actually well below ground level.  If you look around carefully you'll notice it will also be below train track level.  The entrance into the Arena will be from above, much more dramatic I think....also limits traffic on the floor, which was a HUGE problem at the Civic.

Calling it a hill is generous, I'm sure it will be called worse by our Calvin friends in the future.

Civic Minded

Sac,

Yes, let's HOPE they call it a lot worse -- like the "pit of doom!"

For the record, the Hope boys beat the Calvin alum (including Prins, Broene, and Roelofs) by a few good points last night.  Hope was looking good (but I might be biased).  http://discus.d3hoops.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0>

Flying Dutch Fan

Actually I think you meant Aultman, not Roelofs - http://discus.d3hoops.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0>

Civic Minded

Ah yes Aultman -- see what happens when I try to work and post at the same time?

devossed

Cramer and Immink looked improved. Was Phillips injured--he was in street clothes?

Prins was a class act (as always)...it's a shame he couldn't play for Calvin for four more years. And Aultman even looked a little more free and relaxed (getting ready for Europe?)

Civic Minded

Cramer and Immink did look improved (well, Cramer looked like himself w/o back problems, etc.).  Believe it or not, Immink said he wasn't happy with his speed yet -- it sure didn't look that way to me.  Good to see him out on the courts again.

Don't know why Phillips wasn't playing, unless there were just too many of them this week.  He participated in Hope's baskeball camp this week and did not appear injured -- but I didn't get a chance to ask.

Prins a class act?  You're kidding, right?  He was his normal, whiny self, as far as I saw.  But I will admit to a personal bias here.  I should probably meet him in person to get over my image of him.  Those who know him seem to think he's a nice guy!  http://discus.d3hoops.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0>
