Tony DeWitte is dressed and is participating in pre game warmups for Calvin. Guessing he won't play though.

You beat me to it. Calvin looks like a mediocre high school team right now

Anyone else notice there hasn't been a single Calvin ad yet? Ole Michael is pinching pennies

You seem to have a difficult time seeing Calvin very well.

Saw them well enough to watch them get their head kicked in. But I'm sure a wise-ass like you will find a reason why they're really a good team.

I can give you a good reason why they aren't a good team.

They look so slow

I am not sure if Calvin gets coached at all what to do around the basket,  it's sad.

Very impressive game by Beckman and Hawkins for Hope.  I see Mitchell knows that his best players are able to play close to the whole game and not 27 Minutes or so.

GVSU 84, Hope 72 . . . My take is that Hope is blessed with excellent guards and guard depth, and that if the frosh post players can develop (tonight the four of them combined for 2 baskets in 36 minutes of play) this team could be very good by the season's end.
Hope, with all its new players does, as I'd hoped, seem to be developing into a noticeably better team than they were at the season's outset. Is it just me, or are they now playing as a more integrated unit?

Of course, it also helps to have Preston Granger become a force in the paint, with smoothness that reminds me of Harrison Blackledge's first year (albeit without Harrison's 3-point shooting). Ryan Gamm also made a spin move for a basket today that hinted at his potential as well. Interesting to see his minutes increasing.

In both Calvin games I've been very impressed with DeVries . . . a forceful presence and great shooter.

The difference in guard play was staggering.

Calvin G's  3-18 FG, 10 points (all Amoros-Gutierrez)
Hope G's  16-30 FG, 48 points

Which points out the problem.  It also shows that Calvin  received zero points from their starting guards!  I really believe Canoni could contribute more if he would look for the open shots when they are there.  He seems so intent on passing that he passes up opportunites that could add some balance to the offense.  He is a decent shooter.
