Sac, you were in Columbus, it's miserable down in that snakepit every day. ;D

Its an interesting community for sure............I thought I could find one place in Ohio without some OSU garb but tucked in the far back corner of the Amish gift shop was a fine selection of Buckeye...uh stuff.     But I had a great time getting stares for having the audacity to wear my Michigan sweatshirt around town today.   You don't get good service but its worth it just to P--- these people off sometimes. ;D

I didn't see it get mentioned here yesterday, so I'll do it today.  The Transylvania/Miss College game was officiated by an MIAA crew.

They did a fine job.  8)   Kelser, Creek and that other guy.

Had dinner at a place called Der Dutchmen, it was Amish.

Are you up by Waynesville?

We ate at the one in Plain City.

TigerFan_1973

I just looked on the web.

It's a chain.  How could an Amish place be a chain?

It wasn't mentioned here, so I thought I'd be the first... Hope women going to the final four! Congrats to the ladies in orange and blue.  :o :)
Wait, dunks are only worth two points?!?!!!? Why does anyone do them? - diehardfan

Good to hear the MIAA crew didn't mess things up too badly ;).

Just for the record, I'm a Hope alum and a Hope fan.  I just call 'em as I see 'em.

I had to do a double take just now, as I saw Bobby Knight pacing the sidelines in his (former) trademark Indiana red sweater.  Then, I realized they were playing Western U, and I'd somehow switched the channel and Blue Chips is on.

Trust me, I follow Calvin as much as I follow Hope.  I'm aware that Calvin has won 2 national championships.  But, I can't recall the last time Calvin won a football game.  And, I watch a lot of basketball here in Ohio and Ohio kids are flatout better than Michigan kids.  Look at U of M's roster and see how many kids that truly contribute are from the state up north.  I hate to burst anyone's bubble but that's the way it is.

Bad example, irish, since (much as it pains me to say it) MSU has been the dominant bball team lately, not UM.  And MSU's team is mostly Michigan products.  You give me the top prospects from the Detroit, Flint, and Saginaw areas annually, and I will have the #1 recruiting class nationwide pretty much every year.

LAX is still in its infancy in Michigan - Brother Rice is generally the only team in the national top 200 (though they're in the top 20).  This will probably change over the next few years; until 2-3 years ago there were less than 20 schools in the whole state that HAD LAX.

Football, I won't argue with you!

Read an article about HS basketball in Sports Illustrated today..... no Michigan teams mentioned, but i do agree with Mr. Ypsi.......Those Flint, Detroit, and Saginaw areas are recruiting gold mines. I'd take those players anyday.

Good Luck to all 8 teams next weekend. Men and Women.

Coaching women is hugely different than coaching men....I think that the head coach of Hope College will continue for a long time.  Seeing this team back in Ohio, I recognizedd two of the assistants.  Maybe one of them will want the job if it opens.

(Sadly that really is exciting the way this team has shot freebies lately. I could very easily see us here on Saturday either saying the 55% from the line was Hope's undoing or that our 90% FT shooting saved the game.)

Interesting to look at, the three Wooster scores against Witt: 86, 86, 69.

I'm sure you can guess which was the losing score. Hope really wants to get up into the 70s. I'd give us really good odds if we reach 75 or more. Too far down into the 60s probably doesn't bode well. And we all know how ugly something below that (say 59-58) sounds...

Sometimes it sucks to be so right  ;)

I'll read the whole weekend of comments I missed later, but I just have to say that I don't know if I've seen a Hope team play a better defensive game than Friday. They disrupted Witt and did everything they needed to on that end of the floor, just could not cash in on their own.

A detour through Indiana still made for an exciting conclusion to the weekend with a great game by the Hope women. Great mental toughness to pull out an impressive win in front of an, well we'll call them unruly, crowd (to put it nicely) at DePauw.

It sure looks like the Hope women are going to be tough to beat next weekend.  Best of luck to them.
