So, is Olivet that good or Calvin that bad?  Olivet is a step quicker and more athletic.  Calvin did not play stellar defense, especially in the first half.  Two of Calvin's better defenders, DeWitte and Walter, did not make the trip to the Cutler Center.  Not sure why.

From the looks of a couple others on the Calvin bench, including  Ross, going with illness.

Albion 87  Hope 56

One of those days one team plays great the other doesn't.  You end up with this.

Hope:  Beckman 16
Albion:   Fordham 16, Ebeling 13, Bennett 12, Lowe 11, Collins 10

Hope went 2-6 against the 4 teams above them in the standings so 5th is probably about what they deserved.

Olivet 85  Calvin 71

Already been said but Colin Jones makes Olivet a really good team.  Comets controlled this game almost from the tip,  couple good pushes from Calvin but they never got much closer than 4 maybe.   Knights were shorthanded, might have made some difference here or there.  Without a great game from Carlos A-G this would have been super ugly.   Bos took a hard fall late in this one, friend says ankle, he was grasping at his hip or something, don't think he returned.

Olivet Edmond 24, Jones 22, Manuel 22
Calvin   Amoros-Gutierrez 22, Bykerk 14

Olivet's your MIAA Tournament champions if they play 3 games like that next week.

Someone from this conference is getting into the NCAA tournament.

Final record(D3 record) if winning MIAA Tournmant and seed within pod, seeding 1,2,3,4
Trine   19-7     Should get them a #3, weak #2 maybe(big maybe)
Albion 19-7     #3 seed, maybe a weak #2 (also big maybe)
Olivet  14-11   #4 seed
Calvin  13-12   #4 seed
Hope   16-9     #3 seed or  strong #4
Alma    8-20     #4 seed and a good candidate to play Augustana or Oshkosh

Uphill battle for an MIAA to make the 2nd round probably.

Sac, thanks for all the research. Winning close games is key to winning this conference. This year Olivet was 2-4 in close games, last year they were 5-1. If they would have gone 5-1 this year, Cutler would be hosting for the second straight year.

Does anybody know with the new format if the MIAA will reseed in the 2nd round? Like would Alma play Trine with a win being the 6 seed?

The printable bracket gave no indication of anything like that, no.

They didn't do that in the old 8-team format, and I don't think they've said they'd do it here.

When do the ticket for Hope@Cal go on sale?

I believe they will just be sold at the door - MIAA tournament games never draw terribly well

Olivet's your MIAA Tournament champions if they play 3 games like that next week.

It was more than just a bad day for Hope. On Saturday, Albion completely dominated Hope blowing them out by 31 points. Hope's effort was very weak. Other than Jason, the little Hope guards provided no offense or defensive resistance as Albion's guards were celebrating and having fun all day shooting over & driving around little Danny and Cal Hackert & Riley. Coach Mitchell made very few adjustments and let it get out of hand early. Look for the Calvin guards to play right through them as well on both ends of the court. Calvin will put length on Jason, rough up Riley and double Preston so both Teddy and Dennis need to have great games against Calvin or it will be a 3 game Calvin sweep. The bigger Calvin guards along with Dewitt's shooting and a deeper bench will be the keys for Calvin. Looking forward to the great rivalry on Wednesday. Winner gets Trine in Angola with Olivet and Trine heading for the MIAA championship.

Would love to hear what "adjustments" you think would have worked.
