I'm pretty sure Jay Bilas' head would explode upon considering the D3 selection process, and Dick Vitale would suffer a massive stroke.  Not, however, before he proclaimed Veldhouse a diaper dandy.
Yeah and I would like to see Digger Phelps with his color coordinate tie & marker handle - Let see we have XX who gets a bye on the West Coast so the remaining two west coast teams can play each other, then play the bye team so we only have to fly one team somewhere.  Since we have done that there we turn to the South where do that again :'(

Please?!?!  my head might be the one exploding if Vitale doesnt shut his mouth.  he needs to realize there are more schools in this great world besides UNC and Duke.  he takes the saying "Eastcoast Sports Promotion Network" to a new level....

BTW, speaking of such bb aspects (the TV announcers, former coaches, etc. from DI), what do any of you think about the current ESPN series "Knight School" about the competition for a walk-on spot if you've seen it? (and I'm not talking about Calvin ;D).  Just curious.

I'm absolutely addicted to Knight School.  It's the first reality show I've ever been able to stomach because it is actually pretty close to a real basketball practice.  I never miss that show.

Tony Westhouse had a flying one-hander off the left wing at Knollcrest that is the best I've ever seen.  Sherm Karstenen had a beauty for UWSP in the 2000 finals too.

Bob, I'm glad someone else remembers that one.  It was just incredible.  The attendance was fairly low for that game, and if I remeber correctly, the game was already in hand, so people were sort of idly watching.  But then Westouse dunked it and it seemed like the whole Fieldhouse was sort of in disbelief.  It was just awesome.  By FAR the best d3 dunk I have seen in person.

Finally back to reality after the weekend.  Even though it was a bittersweet weekend, it was GREAT!!!  I was VERY PROUD of the Hope players, both men and women and the fan turnout was outstanding!!!

I too was at the DePauw game.  We made the roadtrip from Ohio to Indiana!  During the game I noticed that there was a gentleman in a suit with his wife (I assumed) sitting at the end of our row in the HOPE section. During one of the infamous DePauw student section cheers, I turned to him and asked if he was the DU President.  He affirmed.  I then asked if he condoned this type of cheering.  He looked at me, with a baffled look, and said, "What cheers?"  I then pointed to the DU student section, and said, "That cheer, don't you hear it?"  He then said, "I don't hear anything."  But... his eyes really said it all.  He heard it.  But did NOTHING.  My letter will be written, but in a few days!

And to my dear friend Sac.  What a wonderful post.  Thanks for your pre-claimer noting that it might be sappy, but in all reality, you needed to tell us to grab the Kleenex.  Let's just say that You are the BEST!!!!

Back to work.  It has piled up!

formerd3b:  You make a good point.  I wanted to confirm the behavior of the DP students is why I contacted this acquaintance.
When I asked the question if it was normal for the crowd to react like it did towards Hope he related the Marysville story.  He thought his expereince was a one time fluke spurred on by the hysteria of an NCAA game so he sort of forgot the incident.  This individual has (since we spoke) indicated he intends to write an e-mail to DP.  He also is curious if this is a tournament thing or happens at all games.  I am sure the fact Hope was taking DP to school did much to vex those in attendance from DP.  To bad Hope didn't win by 40 points.

It is very impressive the Hope players, and coaches didn't let the DP fan behavior take them out of their game.  Yes, they are to be applauded.
GoHope.  If the DP President respoded like he did at the game it is doubtful he will even answer an e-mail.  Better to write the NCAA, and just copy this deaf person.

gohope and realist:
That is indeed sad.  I think you are both right.  While you, your colleagues and acquaintances should definitely write or email the DP, I think your suggestions that the NCAA and other administrators be contacted is appropriate.  Hopefully, if they respond as they should, their authority/power will pressure on DP and his administrators to respond appropriately.  The latter should at least make some response/statement.

If DP and administration does not respond, then I believe the opinion of the school and its programs will lose even more respect that perhaps they have lost now from others whose opinion has voiced similar concerns and also in other areas concerning them (i.e. not just about bb).  It will be interesting to see how DP responds, if at all.  Hopefully, they'll do the right thing - and certainly it will be very disappointing don't.  I hope that doesn't happend.

THAT WAS GREAT!!!!!  (and yes the caps lock was on intentionally!)  If I could give karma, you'd be getting some!!!  Three stars for creativity and humor.  Thanks for bringing a little sunshine into my day!!  And... you almost used them all!!!

SBell:  You might want to add Kalamazoo C. @ Constantine to your list.  Apparently Zwiers is going to C Stone, but they have a 6'6" kid named Veenstra,  6' 3" p gaurd Walvort (sp).
