Josh Veenstra from Kazoo Christian. He's improved a lot. Played AAU last year for Joe Hacklin, and that helped. Can shoot it at 6-6/6-7, but not a banger.

Flying Dutch Fan, since I just brought up your MIAA Pick 'Em board, I was wondering if you ever analyzed the results of your pre-conference-season contest for final conference standings.  I've been thinking off-and-on about a scoring system I could put into a spreadsheet to handle all the picks, including ties, but haven't really done anything with it yet.  Been too busy at work, and too much in withdrawal at the unwanted premature end of the season.  Just wondering.

Thanks Rough Rider. I think a lot hinges on one Matt Veltema's decision.  I know of serveral other recruits, who have attended both Calvin and Hope games, and seen Calvin and Hope coaches at theirs. I will play the wait and see game even if I know things others don't, nothing ever seems for sure in D3 ball until their at practice. Is Veenstra a lock for Calvin?
"I started to look around at the fans and the team and I was sitting in the back, and I looked around and everybody was having a good time and that day, it truly made me realize what Michigan was about. It took me down, it humbled me. It taught me how to be a Michigan man instead of Jason Avant."

SBell, is Josh related to Jeremy, who gave the Dutchmen and the rest of the MIAA the "knightmares" that were just recently mentioned?

Cousins. Josh is Mark's son and Jeremy is Mark's nephew.

Ditto on the wait-and-see, Shafeef23.  At the very least, it's a "professional" courtesy to respect the confidences of recruits and recruiters.  Under those conditions, I would expect no more from you at this time.  You'll have to ask SBell about Josh Veenstra's intentions.

Thanks for the clarification.

R Squared, I will never be the first to bring up a recruit's destination even if I'm the first to know.  ;D I give my two cents on situations when the time is right.

I started to work on it several times, but got side-tracked and then fogot about it completely.  I'll dig back into it and get it done.

Ahh recruiting season.  Nothing like going to HS tournament games and seeing all sorts of folks with college logos on their jackets in the stands.  Best of luck to all the MIAA schools in bringing in great classes!

I haven't read the board through a recruiting season yet.  I hope I didn't violate some rule of etiquette by mentioning that Schuster plans to play at Calvin.

Is this a sure thing?

Pretty reliable source.  He spoke at Calvin's commencement last year and it's not George W. Bush. :-\  (Not sure what smiley face should go here but it does seem to call for one).  Of course as someone has already mentioned, nothing is for sure until practice starts.

Shareef23, I'm with you all the way on that approach.

DenverKnight, since I'm still kinda new at this too, I'll leave it to the more experienced posters to answer your question.

Denver Knight, I think it's up to you. If KVS knows and the player is openly telling people this, I think your fine for sure. I personally don't want to break anything first, because of people I know and how things might effect them. In West Michigan, it's kind of sticky with the schools going after the same kids. Usually things are up on here a day or two before they are made public. I guess the reason I don't want to say anything until it is said first is that I have a responsiblity to keep my mouth shut on certain issues.  like recruitng. If I opened it, I would probably not receive this info any more. I am not sure how other people do it. Most posters are pretty classy so I would assume they take the coaches and players into account when given information.

I think that's pretty accurate Shareef.  I try not to post anything like that (a recruit, or any other point of fact) unless I'm sure it's true, and I'm sure that I wouldn't be violating any relationships by posting it.  If the kid is telling all his friends, and anyone who asks that he's going to Calvin, I don't think there's any harm in posting it.  Just make sure you're darn sure if you're stating a fact, and if you're unsure and think it's appropriate to post, make it clear that you're speculating to some extent.
